Yeah, but those sandwiches cost less than most meals at other places (like the ones that serve Breakfast all day), whereas the only thing I can do with the eggs is crack them on your head & be assured there's no brain damage...

Having had Lunch at McDonald's several days in the last 7, I can tell you if you think you're paying people to clean up, I can tell you it's better to put that money in the Ronald House charity collection, as local workers aren't doing what you think you're paying for.

I don't know how to respond to this. It's just stupid on many levels.

Try to eat more vegetables that aren't fried potatoes and real tomato ketchup and go with God.

I disagree. When I go to any of the stores where I buy my usual breakfast foods (a bit OCD on what I eat for certain meals certain days), if the store is out of the brand/type of waffles I usually buy there, I can't purchase them. If I go back the next day & they do, I can, but may have to move faster in-&-out due to having an appointment on my schedule that day.

Point being? Being able to purchase things there is also/still a matter of convenience, yet any day, I can use the governmental-assistance "money".

Not the same as someone preparing your food and cleaning up after you. A grocery store is the bare minimum convenience possible besides growing and raising your own food which you can not do realistically if you are on government assistance.

I'll add that for the price of 1 breakfast sandwich at Mcdonalds you can buy a dozen eggs.

This made me think about my last few POS transactions—I used my debit card, so no change was required.

Even cash is becoming an outdated technology. I'm not saying we're on the brink of doing away with cash altogether (although some think we are), but more businesses than ever are accepting card payments, and more people than ever are using cash as infrequently as possible.

Interesting.

I only use cash for three things really.

I always have a small roll on me for:

1. tipping bartenders, waitresses, chamber maids, single moms (strippers), doormen, valets etc. I may still pay my bill with my card but the tip will be in cash.

2. I will also use cash for gambling.

3. And lastly, I use cash for events like concerts and festivals.

3 1/2. I guess I will add one more and say I will use cash at shady gas stations or convenience stores.

The only one of those that actually requires a cashier transaction is the shady gas stations and convenience stores. And I don't care if the cashier is that motherfucker from A Beautiful Mind... Ring that shit up and give me the right change.

but if I go to McDonald's this afternoon (where they only sell things I can eat/drink), I can't use my "stamps"/card equivalent there.

I would imagine that is because you are also paying for service and convenience. Something that rightly, shouldn't be purchasable with government assistance programs.

It has nothing to do with allowing them to use technology or not. It has to do with the fact that they DON"T learn the basic adding and subtracting, multiplying or dividing first. they don't have the slightest clue if the calculator is actually giving them the correct answer. (it is just a machine after all.) by your logic, why should we teach kids to read or write when we have audio books, speaking menus and pictures of things they can point to? And your reference to making change in their head? Many schools have already stopped teaching cursive. I have seen some of these kids that can't even figure out what coins to give because it only displays a total amount to return. I used to stop many mornings at a McDonalds for a breakfast platter, since I took the toll road, I needed quarters. the total for the meal was 2.39 so i would give them 3.14, thus getting me .75 in change. they would take it and look at it without a clue until they put the amount in and saw that it was 3 quarters. and god forbid the computers go down and they have to manually figure change.

It also has nothing to do with the loss of "the good old days". I agree, the vast majority of people no longer need to know how to help a horse give birth or plow a field. it has to do with the dumbing down of students because they no longer know the most basic of the building blocks which are needed to truly understand the more complex ideas. if they have no concept of an inch, how can they judge a mile?

I do agree that there is also a need to learn the new technology, and it is a conundrum of what to cut, but in the long run, eliminating the very basic building blocks of education hurts every future generation.

BTW, I wonder how many kids even know what a protractor is used for?

That kid in McDonald's has to punch in the money you gave them to make the cash register open anyway... If they don't input the numbers they can't give you your 75 cents. Did you expect them to tell you, gee wiz that's 75 cents ma'am! Then put it into the register? Their drawers are counted at the end of their shift too. No matter what they are always going to input the numbers even if the change is a penny. In today's world every cent is counted and the cashier is held accountable. They don't care about impressing some lady in the drivethru... Plus it's not even the norm for people to give you more money than needed when paying anyway. When you're doing the same thing over and over again and all of a sudden someone gives you more money than needed it throws you off, you're not just gonna be like 75 cents!!! You probably wouldn't immedietly do it in your head either. It probably took you longer than a couple of seconds to get your money together yet you expect them to calculate it in less time. Especially when it's not a common thing.

Also if the computers go down at McDonald's then they stop service. No mcgriddle for you or 75 cents. It's not a general store... It's a well oiled machine, because of technology.

AND Watermelon or strawberries with Danish feta cheese.

This is actually quite good.

I love watermelon and feta skewers...especially with mint.

There's a place in my town that has an appetizer that is made of watermelon, mint, basil, pork belly and drizzled with a sweetened balsamic reduction. Sounds really weird but it's so damn good. Pretty easily replicated at home.

Upon further reading of associated articles, I learned that one of the morons (who resigned recently from the department) fired his taser and one of the prongs hit the side of the car, while the other prong hit the driver in his face.

That officer - Shawn Jurgens then had the audacity to blame the taser miss on the driver who he claimed was moving around wildly inside the vehicle as he was trying to aim and fire. (which we see in the video - did not happen that way at all).

These stupid bastards must forget that the camera sees everything - everything they apparently cannot see.

http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2015/05/24/watch_a_police_officer_taser_pepper_spray_a_man_who_is_suffering_a_massive.html

If a person is having a stroke, often one side of their body (usually the left side) becomes temporarily to permanently paralyzed. They aren't going to be able to speak, they might not even be able to understand what's being said to them. They aren't going to be able to move very well either, unless they are convulsing involuntarily.

All of the officers who engaged this person need to be reprimanded at the very least and removed from the streets. They are not fit to police jackshit.

I like when you have a little pep in your step. You get all fired up. All passionate.

Topic Best way to ask out someone?
Posted 26 Jul 2015 13:20

I've managed to enjoy myself whenever I've been and have often been called "a charmer".

Please..

What you achieve by asking a woman right off the bat if she has a boyfriend or is married is to make her uncomfortable. Without realizing you are going to ask her out she might say she doesn't... Now you ask her out and she doesn't want to go out on a date with your un-charming ass... Now she actually has to reject you because she just doesn't dig you. And we all know how some guys react to rejection... You take away her easy out in saying she is seeing someone. Not to mention the fact you are letting her know that you aren't even interested in her as a person unless there's a chance to get laid. It's just stupid.

Anyway... The good thing is this young blood cloudfox got his date. It seems to be going well for him too.

Topic Best way to ask out someone?
Posted 26 Jul 2015 12:55

There have been a number of good suggestions here. One fast way to find out IF she has a husband or Bf is to simply tell her "He's a lucky guy." And, when she asks "Who"" say "Your BF" THEN if she's says "Thanks I'll tell him" you know you're wasting your time... at the minute. From time to time you can casually ask IF she's still with that same lucky guy. IF she says she doesn't HAVE a BF or husband, ask her if she'd consider changing that and if she shows interest, take it from there in asking for a date.

Leading off with "do you have a boyfriend or husband" is about the stupidest way to ask a girl out. It really is.

My sister used to watch dirty dancing and the little mermaid literally every single day when we were kids. My "room" was the damn living room so I was forced to have that in the background whenever I was home. I have them memorized.

but if you're poor and you go around in horse and cart, you're still an idiot in my mind.

There is merit to this... Like, if you're poor you should probably just eat the horse instead of spending an insane amount of money feeding it and keeping it healthy.

Going vegetarian is good for you AND it's ethically good karma. i'm proud of you. Big Hugs

Thank you, it's tough at first but if you spice chicken breast just right it starts to pass for an actual piece of meat. More people should give vegetarianism a chance.

funny how yours always end on third base. mine usually make it all the way home, but then, i'm me, and you're you.

Third base is the turning point. It's when the denouement starts . Without getting too lowbrow... I either want to pluck that flower or toss the roast beef sandwich in the trash. I wan't to hear the ending starting from there.

You will have to update this thread when you get to third base. I hate starting a love story and not finding out how it ends.

I think what I have learned from this thread (well I already knew it actually) but what sticks out to me the most about this thread is that all teachers are most definitely not created equal.

I didn't really give much thought to the original post but after reading the insightful, coherent and interesting thoughts by one teacher I have given this much more thought. I have even related and thought about things in my own life where it applies. Like an older coworker for example, he sits there trying to memorize phone numbers or do formulas in his head to try to make the younger workers feel inferior. It's super annoying because it just wastes time and makes the margin for error that much bigger. If I actually calculated the amount of time he wastes doing things like this I wouldn't be surprised if it totaled up to a whole work day a week of wasted time. That's not even including mistakes he makes that trickle down to his workers under him which then have to be fixed by me or one of my peers wasting our time too. It really is irritating. it is very unlikely that all calculators and phones and computers will all break down and won't be able to be immediately replaced to merit such time wasting.

The other teacher in an extraordinary bit of irony isn't even comprehending what the other teacher is saying. It's fascinating and it has firmly convinced me that that it's the teacher who commands respect, attention and teaches not the electronic device.

Disclaimer: This post is work of fiction. Any resemblance to actual living persons is purely coincidental.

I just want to focus in on this one point you made, if I may.

What exactly do you perceive to be the problem with kids using calculators during maths tests? They're mathematical instruments, after all. Should we also deny them rulers and protractors?

This is the same old clinging on to "the good old days", and this particular point gets on my nerves because what you're basically saying, without perhaps realising it, is that maths teachers don't know how to do their job. How very dare they decide the appropriate parameters for the assessment given to the learners they are responsible for? Why, it's barely a test at all if they've all got calculators —you may as well give them all an A and be done with it.

I'm baffled by the logic. You would rather kids spent long amounts of time performing tedious calculations by hand which a machine could do in seconds, rather than actually teach them mathematics and develop their understanding so they can put such machines to work for them and make their lives a whole lot easier, which is why we have calculators in the first place. You would rather abandon technology than teach kids how to use it properly and effectively.

Do you think their future boss will be impressed that they can calculate the change due to the customer in their head, when it's displayed right there on the screen? Do you think the accountant who takes three times as long to complete his work gets props because he did it all by hand?

Throughout my four year undergraduate course in mathematics, I rarely went near a calculator—I didn't need one because I wasn't doing any calculations. But when I did occasionally have to multiply two three digit numbers, do you think I wasted my time working it out by hand? Fuck no. And you better bet your ass that I had to get real comfortable real quick with a whole host of mathematical software, designed to make the work of a mathematician that much easier and unhindered by awkward calculations that were no problem to a computer.

If a machine can do what I need to do, I will learn how to use the machine and I will use it.

How can teachers win? You want us to give your kids a "classical" education, drilling them in dull arithmetic and algorithms, AND you want us to equip them with relevant skills for the modern world. What was a good education twenty years ago is no longer valuable to young people. Times change; the way we do things changes.

I bet you use a car to get around too. Lazy motherfucker.

Here are a few of the ones I wish existed.

- Trailer park encounters

- Clown sex

- Furries

- Cosplay

- Nasal fixation

- Milk enemas

- Toe insertion

- Humiliation

- Fucking in church

- Emo girls who do anal just to complain about it on the internet

- Crying blowjobs

- Yoga sex

- Period play

- Spit roast girls

People aren't in control of what they say or how they say it because of what others have said? What a truly baby-ish belief. "It's not my fault! Someone pissed me off!" Truly laughable.

Haha anyway...

I don't think we need it. And please, I don't want anyone giving me some kind of fuckwad arguments. It is just my opinion.

A fuckwad argument is better than no argument... That's like saying, "that movie/story sucked", with no further explanation or reasoning and expect to be taken seriously. Why don't you think it is needed and how would it affect you if it was added? If I may be so bold as to ask...

How many examples doyou want regarding a white person? Red yellow, black or white, a gun in their hands out of sight kills the same way.

I wont degrade myself and callyou a fool, however cranial rectal inversion is so unbecoming

So let's say there was a gun in his hand... Lifting his hand would indicate he's going to use it no? When cops are already freaking out and pointing guns at you and you happen to be not white, the fear can be pretty paralyzing, they are just looking for a reason to fuck you up. The one cop even stated in his report that the guy was moving when he clearly wasn't. The cop sees movement when there isn't any... What does that tell you? It tells you that these untrustworthy fools should be feared and fear usually makes you run, fight or freeze.

I saw nothing in that clip that indicated that the person was unwell, nor that he conveyed that to the officers. If it did occur, then I stand corrected.

How hard is it to life your hands and show them?

Refusing to do so when requested by an officer is suspicion he has a weapon in his hands.

Many people have weapons on them when they interact with peace officers, they also have no problem, "yes sir, here,s my license and registration.

attempting to hide your hands is a red flag.

i guess we leave this as we agree to disagree respectfully.

If you think they would have approached a white lady in the same way with their guns all out, screaming and scaring the shit out of people then you are a fool. Anyone would be scared to move their hands, wether they were feeling well or not.

I think you may have missed my point. Not sexual abuse. More like abuse of the ability to drag an ex through the mud here. For example, there are all the revenge porn videos and sites. People are having their lives exposed when perhaps it would be better if they were left behind the camera, so to speak.

In my opinion, Lush doesn't need to join that group of sites. Certainly, I'm sure it's happened here, but perhaps it was really subtle. If we open it up, it might become less so. Just saying.

But, that's my opinion. Only.

This is just silly. It's a very silly leap you're making. That is not the type of revenge she is talking about.
