His predatory bullshit could have been stopped years ago but did victims go to the police? No. They went to their lawyers first and settled out of court. ELEVEN women, took the money and ran. If I was sexually assaulted, the first place I would be going is the police station not my lawyer.

I'm not saying they deserved it, nobody does but if they had pressed charges he wouldn't have been able to continue that behaviour for so long.

Trinket being obnoxious, unable to understand something, oddly sexist....Man, how shocking. Truly, never saw that coming.

Topic Boy Scouts Allow Girls to Join, Girl Scouts Backlash
Posted 19 Oct 2017 01:28

Boy Scouts is something near and dear to my heart. My son is a Boy Scout, following in my footsteps as I am an Eagle Scout.

I acknowledge my time in scouting was a long time ago, the 1980's, but it was a great organization to be a part of. I don't recall ANY boy being turned away because he was gay or atheist. No one asked if anyone was an atheist or not, it was irrelevant. We did have a guy that was gay. He knew it, we knew it, and the leaders knew it. No one cared. He was one of my best friends in scouts and he and I shared a tent multiple times. Including a two week backpacking trip in the mountains of New Mexico. I went to two National Jamborees, one as a scout participant and one as a member of the Jamboree band.

I just don't think it's a good idea to have girls in boy scouts. Everyone deserves a place of their own, let the boys have boy scouts. As they get older, mid to late teens, girls and boys can scout together in Explorer Scouts or whatever it's called today. Man, there were so many young awkward Boy Scouts of the 11-13 year old bracket that just are not ready for that. So many of the outcast boys that feel so much pressure in school, are free of that pressure when they're with a bunch of other boys. Let those boys have their safe space. If there were no other option for girls, then yeah, let them in. But they do have Girl Scouts.

There's part of the problem though. The Girl Scouts are boring and have been for decades. As a kid, I had several friends in Girl Scouts and they all talked about how they wished their GS troops had as much fun as the BS troops. We'd go camping and hiking and canoeing and all sorts of stuff. The girls just didn't have the same experiences. They enjoyed being with their friends and often went through Brownies to GS together, so they had tight bonds. But, by their own admission, it could have been a lot more fun. The fact that I didn't even know the Girl Scouts highest award/rank is the Gold Award speaks to the lack of leadership of the GSA to promote their own program.

In the past, BSA has had a very conservative image, which turned off lots of liberal minded folks. And, those liberal minded folks certainly had a good point. BSA evolved, whether because they changed their conceptions or because they wanted to keep numbers up. They've still changed, and will hopefully continue to do so. Open arms and a more affirmative and accepting stance on gay scouts would be a good thing. By the same token, Girl Scouts has a more liberal image. Like it or not, conservative minded folks aren't lining up to enroll their daughters. Neither should be conservative/right or liberal/left. It should be a place to learn and have fun.

In Boy Scouts I learned first aid, how to tie a bowline and a clove hitch, and I can still lash like a mofo. Which, believe it or not, has come in handy from time to time. The two weeks I spent at Philmont Scout Ranch, backpacking in the Rocky Mountains, is still one of my most treasured memories and experiences. I spent 4 days canoeing the Buffalo River.. twice. That was a blast.

The ones that are going to suffer most from this is the Girl Scouts. Their numbers are going to go down. As it is, the only time you see or hear about Girl Scouts are when they're doing a fundraiser... cookies. Other than that, at least anywhere I've ever lived as an adult, I never see them anywhere else in the community. The leadership at GSA needs to find a way to make their program more attractive so that girls don't want to join Boy Scouts. It may be too late.

As I said, I don't like it. That doesn't mean I'm opposed to it. It will work fine, I'm sure. I won't pull my son out of BS because of it, I won't write a letter to the editor proclaiming how Boy Scouts has been ruined and I'll *shaking fists* never give money or time to that organization again. And, get off my lawn. I think it's perfectly okay for pre-teen boys to have a place where their zit marked and lanky bodies can feel safe from pressure to look good for his crush. Likewise, I think pre-teen girls deserve the same thing. They all go to school together, let them experience a few things apart and differently.

Girl Scouts, despite their seemingly boring programs, do teach valuable lessons to their members. Lessons that won't be readily available at Boy Scouts. Those girls, now and in the future, that need that environment could lose that. Not all girls will want to be in Boy Scouts, many if not most will want to be with a bunch of other little girls. If GS folds because of lack of members, those little girls will be the ones hurt most.

Not sure if this is just a cultural thing because I'm pretty American although I had one immigrant parent... But still, about as american as it gets... Boys shouldn't have any problem playing with girls at a young age. That is just so weird. Separating the sexes and instilling in them that they are different at an early age warps the minds of a lot of them. Growing up together and playing and challenging each other from birth creates mutual respect I think. Like this lafayette states that girls think the boyscouts are more fun, that's his opinion of course, not an actual girlscout, no one could actually know that for a fact as it is on a case by case basis of course but what you can take from it is that many boyscouts probably come out of it thinking that girl scouts are inferior to them. That boys are just cooler and more fun. It's a systemic problem with society. Scouting and the love of nature should most certainly not be divided by sex. What the fuck? What does that have to do with anything when it comes to backpacking or surviving in nature. Like stop stunting maturity.

Yes, my son is an Eagle Scout, something that I am very proud of as any parent of an Eagle Scout is.

I wouldn't be surprised if that shit isn't just another participation award to make the stupid feel important.

Can you imagine the stink people like NW would make if their son didnt make eagle scout? I'm sure anyone that participates and pays whatever fee becomes one.

Topic How would you address the underlying causes of crime?
Posted 19 Oct 2017 00:59

I think about this a lot. In some ways I have a pretty conservative view of crime in Western nations, 'you do the crime you do the time.' But any thinking person realizes there are numerous underlying causes of crime be it poverty, inequality, social injustice ...the list could go on. Personally I think a major root cause is the atrocious gap in distribution of wealth and trust me I am a staunch capitalist. But really....most of the world's wealth held by 1% of the population? That's fucked up.

What do you think are the underlying causes of crime and what would you do to address it?

And try to stick to the "think" part will ya....

That's not a complex issue. Need, hunger, being cornered in life and the anger associated with it are probably 99% of the reason. The other 1% is just psychopathy.

Solving that problem is another thing.

Topic Presidential offspring - out of bounds or fair game..?
Posted 19 Aug 2017 02:44

I'm not moved by the whining of others, so most of this post is moot to me.

I honestly don't care when members get a few insults off at each other. If I happen to be paying attention, I'll tell everyone to knock it off and keep it moving.

When other members are accused of plagiarism, the stakes are a bit higher. Trinket was accused of plagiarism, the usual parties defended her, DamonX apologized. Everything involving Trinket and plagiarism should have ended once DamonX realized his accusation was false and apologized. The only posts that remain regarding this matter are the ones where the accusation was corrected by Trinket's camp. The following sneering contest between Trinket & Co.™ and others was removed because it was just really fucking stupid. Actually, it's all really fucking stupid, but I digress.

As for the insults of others not being removed, if you take a scroll through this thread, you'll find that most of your insults towards others are alive and well. The only things that won't be there are the insults relating to Trinket being accused of plagiarism.

I said I deleted the posts because I, in fact, deleted the posts. Whether or not you believe me is frankly none of my business.

This post is not completely factual. Especially when you say only posts about trinket's plag ia rism were erased. That's not true. Posts about trinket's history and tendencies were erased. Things that would put a lot of her bullshit in context.

I will add that the TM addition did make me giggle against my will. I'll give you that. As for the he rest, how dare you call this stupid... me vs the hellspawn demon known as trinket is the very reason there are forum mods. How dare you..

Topic Presidential offspring - out of bounds or fair game..?
Posted 09 Aug 2017 00:34

I didn't delete the posts from the previous page because that particular matter had resolved itself, while the posts I recently deleted were open invitations for more of the same bullshit.

Really, how so? Because I see posts specifically targeted at a singular member that have nothing to do with thread.

And what do you mean by more of the same bullshit? Is it that posts about certain members are okay because those members don't clutter the lush help desk with bullshit? Why is it okay to directly attack certain members but if they respond it gets deleted? Why do some members get to play the victim card whenever they are confronted in interactions they started?

This is all assuming you're telling the truth about you deleting the comments and not Sprite of course. Which comes off as weird with her posting the obligatory "stop derailing the thread" post after posts are deleted. It's like really impecaple timing if she didn't delete the posts or have no knowledge they would be deleted. Or even if you are telling the truth, posts that embarrassed trinket are deleted but trinkets baiting isn't. Just saying.

I mean, I know no one wants the FBI called about anonymous profiles on lush, but you don't have to insult the intelligence of people reading this shit either. All it takes is whining and complaining to make lush........bend the knee.

Short and middle aged. Not a good combo.

When attacking what I say doesn't work... go for physical stature lol. I'm 5'10" by the way, quite average, depending on what part of the world you're in I suppose.

What's funny is that this man used to kiss my ass in private messages. Obviously in hopes that I'd stop yanking his crank. Of course I didn't... It's sad really, a tall man who resorts to little man tactics.

At least you admit your sick obsession with me. I'm laughing at your lame ass every day.

Laughing burns calories. See I'm helping you.

The obsession part you have been projecting ever since the first time I laughed at one of your posts... It's funny how on lush people immediately go to the obsession thing if someone points out something ridiculous. It's also funny how some people on lush never think anything they do could possibly be funny to anybody socially acceptable. "If I get made fun of it must be by a virgin, who lives with his mom and is fat and ugly! A good looking, successful, fit person would never make fun of me! I am too good for that!". It's really pretty fascinating. I guess in that sense I am obsessed. Like how Jacques Cousteau was "obsessed" with studying animals. "IAMLOVE" is like a sea lion to me, a sea lion with charlie horses in its flipper.

And geez... What happened to all the peace, love, positive thinking vibes?
