This is a great example of why stories should not be restricted to just one category in my mind. I know there are tags as well, but those have not the same weight as categories. To what single category does a story, or poem, belong to that equally touches on the subjects of multiple categories? I think that letting the author pick just one out of the many that may fit doesn't serve the purpose of the categories, as those are there mainly for the readers I'd say.

It might seem obvious that a story about a blow-job belongs in the category 'Oral sex'. But what if it's a guy giving the blow-job? Should it then be in 'Gay sex'? What if this guy is a crossdresser? What if he's giving the blow-job to a transsexual? What if their relationship is that of Dom/sub? What if the main characters are of different races and the story is set in a historical context, the Stonewall riots perhaps? The restriction of one category per story clearly doesn't cut it.

He isn't talking about stories... In your instance you should put it in gay sex and tag it first with transgender and blowjob. What you are suggesting is allowing stories to go in multiple categories. Guess what? Authors will post their stories in every category making the categories meaningless. Restricting stories to one category is the best way. Go to a porn site, click on a specific category. Say you want to watch a blowjob. You want to watch a chick suck a dick and then get jizzed on. The thing is those sites allow vids to be in multiple categories. All the vids in the blowjob category will be porn that is just sex scenes with everything else too. It will be in the blowjob category because it will have a minute of it but it's not a blow job vid.

You're smarter than this. Stop being stupid.

Take the "we" as you will. I meant "we" as the human race in whole. Both ordinary people and the terrorists/sociopaths. If everyone did his or her part in making the world a better place, we'd see the changes necessary.

Can someone ask nymph for me what she learned and what is the part that she is doing to prevent another sandyhook-9/11-other countless atrocities? I mean seriously, I really need to know. I want to do my part too like nymph.

Really? Are we going to go with comparisons? Okay. How about this one. Predicting the Ms. Universe contest based purely on looks and the country name and getting two of the final three right? The sad part about starting a comparison is that there are WAY too many that can go either way. I just made a statement; there was no need for a comparison. I never said it should be changed in fact if you looked at my previous post I actually said the competition was exactly what it is and didn't need to be changed. My second post just said I agreed with someone else that it would be NICE (not that it HAD) if there were no names. Then I said it was bad that I got 6 out of 10. That is a personal view. I didn't say anything that warranted a comparison.

Comparison? You should have said analogy. It's the more correct word in that instance. This is why I win comps.

These aren't the the best movies ever or even the ones I myself consider the best. They are the ones I would watch at any time if someone suggested them. They are the ones I see the most of myself in and identify with and just love watching.

I like the way you said most of the things. Like you I think the same about the people jumping on Ping's post as an attack on the norm. But I think even if they took away the names, it will still get to the judges. I mentioned in my post that for the past two competitions I have guessed the top ten without reading the stories. I think it is bad that I can guess 6 out of 10. I am glad to see someone agrees that making a personal attack on someone because of a suggestion is highly immature.

That's like saying you were certain Michael Bay wouldn't win an oscar. Don't have to watch his latest turdfest to make that prediction.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience on this matter.

A few things...

Not once have I referred to myself or any of my past or current entries. Please do not project what you 'feel'.
Take my words at face value. If you re-read my initial post, you will see they were not 'bitches' but observations and a request.
In addition, I have spoken with many before, almost since the day I joined, inquiring about the process. My very first story
was a competition entry. When my stories are good enough, I trust they will be recognized. Until then, I continue to work
and learn from both my successes and mistakes.

I too have assessed 'things' using rubrics, scales, etc. I've created them too. A rubrics does exist here for judging.
The question/discussion is how all writers, especially budding ones, get access to what the judges are looking for.

For you to say that the way winners and finalists are chosen, "... is more than fair... ", implies you know something more about the
process than most people on this site. After this discussion, a few more may know that too. My suggestion is that everyone should
know that, not just those that have been participating members for a number of years.

There is much misinformation about the process. Some, including me, were incorrectly told total views were part of the criteria.

Not once have I "...publicly bashed the site... " I clearly said I care about it. That is why I risked backlash for this discussion.
I have also not said that this site should be like XYZ site. The comparisons are moot. This is the best site. Period.
However, to remain the best, it still needs to push itself to remain on top.

Fortunately, after a number of posts and replies, the process appears to be a bit clearer. Based on this new information, I will
offer a few suggestions that I hope will be considered for implementation.

Thank you.

G

Ping, you say you want a list of things the judges are looking for but that statement alone makes me feel like you haven't really thought this crusade through as much as you say you have.

Take the stories that have won in the past. There's not that many so you can probably read them all.. They are all very very different from each other. I have won before, actually I won the biggest comp lush has ever had, and I have placed three other times. My style of writing is wildly different than the other writers who have also won. Not sure what kind of a list you expect to be compiled so you can write in a paint by numbers fashion to please the competition judges when the winners are so vastly different. Just recently a newer writer with relatively low readership won a comp. Very popular writers and also despised writers have won. Vanilla stories and also rockyroad stories have won. Classic erotica tropes and also original stories have won. The common denominator is that all the stories were... Subjectively better than the other entries. That's it.

Also, the judges change from comp to comp so it makes it even more nonsensical to ask for an actual list of criteria that stories are judged on.

And transparency would only cause problems. With the maturity level at lush you can imagine what would happen if everyone knew who the judges were for each comp. and imagine if those judges had to explain their choices in the winner announcement thread... I mean it would be funny... But ridiculous.

MF, as a bright person, you know and are ignoring the fact that everyone grieves in different ways. People ask where their friends, colleagues, lovers were that day to connect, as humans do in many ways. This was a perfectly good thread, though perhaps in the wrong forum for its purpose.

This "escapist" website is more than that, as you're aware from your attention to the political threads in the think tank and your bashing of others in a way that might be escapist for you but certainly not for them.

Get the thread back on track, if it has any steam left after you've trashed it, and refrain from grinding adult conversations into a forum for playground squabbles. Thanks.

Firstly, you give me too much credit if you think people will stop posting because I posted. If they don't post it probably has more to do with them feeling it's inappropriate and not because I posted. Secondly, simmerdownchick even admitted in her response to you that she felt like she was going to receive criticism for this thread. Must be because even she thinks it's inappropriate, especially coming from her. Wasn't it her that recently started a thread that was pretty much about hate and fear of a culture? Thread got shut down did it not? I'm not saying threads like this can't exist on lush, it's just repugnant coming from posters like her. Total drama queens starting threads like this irks me.

Ah, Jack... It's sad to see, some things don't change. You're still not capable of getting any serious attention without launching attacks on people. Pathetic actually.

How is playing the victim (acting like a little bitch) working out for you? I'm sure you won't answer that like you didn't answer the previous question asked of you. Boohoo.

You're not American, you don't truly understand what this day means. You're just a butthurt dummy who dislikes me.

I consider the source on lush when it comes to threads like this. simmerdownchick is one of the most repugnant posters on here who has a history of attention seeking and overall nonsense. A thread like this, by her, is vile... Vomitous.

You're right, Patokl. People do grieve in their own way. This was such a shared tragedy that many of us need to remember it, or choose to remember it, if for no other reason than to honor those lost, and those that lost loved ones.
Master Jonathan, I hope you were not a fireman in New York. A very sad and unfortunate memory to end a noble career.
While we're at it, let's not forget all of our troops that sacrificed their lives and limbs.
We should never forget them or what happened 15 years ago.

Are you saying that 360 million Americans may have forgotten it's 9/11? So you needed to remind them on an escapist sex site? A site where you have repeatedly embarressed yourself and been "challenged" by other members? So you decided to choose a bulletproof subject to gain attention? To anyone who knows who you are, this is another disgusting display of your malfunction. Shame.

You do not only sound like a dick, you are one. Everyone has the right to deal with their memories of that day in their own way. Sharing memories of that day, is just as valid as any other way of mourning and commemorating.
And anyone disrespecting the people who do so, is a disgusting dick himself.

I almost forgot about you. But you ring a bell. What was the topic we disagreed on before? All I remember is needing to put more water in your momma's dish... But that couldn't have been the actual thread.

If I let myself, I can remember everything about that morning. It's a very painful thing to look back on, but every year on the anniversary of this day, we will always be reminded of the brutal attack that killed so many unsuspecting Americans.

It was a Tuesday morning, and it was supposed to be my day off, but that soon changed. My mom and I had planned to go to my sister Margaret’s house, have lunch and maybe go to IKEA. I used to get up in the morning and walk about a mile around the block, but had decided not to that day because I wanted to sleep in.

At the time, I kept the answering machine in the other room because I didn't want it next to my bed.

That morning the phone rang and rang, and I remember thinking, "Who is calling me so early?" It was about nine AM, and anyone who knows me, knows that I sleep in. The message was fast and I didn't get what she was saying, so I ran it back.

"With everything going on I hope you're not at work.". Everything going on? What was going on? In my sleepy haze, I went to the living room and turned on the TV.

"Smokestacks, it must be a refinery fire. What’s all the fuss about?" It’s funny how the mind works. I thought they were smokestacks.

But then I saw the second plane hit the second Tower, and I knew.

I called my mom and told her to turn on the TV, and she and I watched as they re-ran the footage of the planes hitting the Towers from our homes a mile away from each other. God that was such a bad time, and my heart still aches when I let it take me back to that terrible day.

When I got in my car to leave my house, it was so eerie. All of my neighbors were standing in their driveways but no one was talking. They were all just standing there, staring at each other.

We all shared the exact same pain, and I sobbed all the way to work.

While we waited for direction from the FAA, we kept busy by organizing boarding passes and writing the date, 9/11, on all of them. It seemed so Ironic to me that it happened on 911. We learned how to search luggage for bombs while we sat in the American Airlines gate area, all the while these great silver birds were parked at the gates, a constant reminder of the horror that had occurred only a few short hours before.

All air traffic stopped for four days straight and planes were grounded in cities that their airlines didn't even fly into. Flight crews were scattered around the country, so when we did begin service, we didn't always have a crew so we had to find them where we could. Some were flight attendants just trying to get home. Some were in the middle of other trips who volunteered to work flights just to keep us flying.

My friend Stacy, a Flight Attendant, was the one who called me, and was in Maryland. The fallout from the Pentagon's ash was so thick she could not see across the street.

The pain of 9/11 was deep and the impact it had on our country was nothing short of amazing. If someone asked, "How are you?" They really wanted to know how you were.

People were giving blood to the point the Red Cross said, "No more, thank you. Please donate money instead," and our Fire Departments were regaled as heroes. Which they are, and we should NEVER forget that!

When the song "Where were you?" by Alan Jackson came out I listened with amazement, because it seemed as though he was singing about me, and how I dealt with this tragedy. I watched the news until I couldn't bear it anymore. It was too much. At work and at home day in and day out until all I could do is watch "I love Lucy" reruns and cry.

There are over 360 million different stories about that day, and each of us can tell it. We were all affected by this attack, and it changed us. It changed everything.

At risk of sounding like a total dick to the casual lush lurker... This is about the lowest attempt at lush attention I've seen since trinket's breast cancer thread. It's not surprising, but disturbing, how the lowest of the lowest lush members start threads like this. Mourning is a personal thing. Not something you put on display to let others know you're "mourning". Seriously, Americans are not running around telling others how much they are affected on this day... on the Internet. You think, you pray, you light fireworks, you pick a banjo, you eat some pie with family, you visit a vet, you drink a rye.... You may have good intentions, maybe... But when you've been nothing but a drama queen in the past, threads like this are disgusting at best.

Why does it piss her off? Is it because you stretch them out or because you're her husband and it's disheartening?

To get this back on track a bit (sorry!) might want to take a look at vibrating cock rings with clitoral stimulators - not to pricey and they're pleasurable for both partners. :)

If I pulled a vibrating cock ring out my girlfriend would laugh me right out of the bedroom. That is a horrible suggestion.

I was reading in one of the Sunday papers here this weekend that Hilary Clinton has begun sounding out people for her Cabinet when she takes office in January and Bill's name has been suggested for Secretary of State. I just wonder what the consensus of opinion is here. I always considered him a good President - casting aside Monica's dress issue. It would make sense wouldn't it?

Pretty positive that if Bill could run again for president he'd win in a landslide. So having him as Secretary of State does make sense.
