Topic Announcing the Winners of our "This is Hardcore" Stories Competition
Posted 04 May 2015 20:14

I said she would win when she announced with Sprite that she was going to enter. That's just how good she is. Congrats Ashleigh. Well deserved. However, thanks to all that entered. There were several that entered I enjoyed reading; like Nymphwriter, Bethany, Buz, and Sprite to name a few.

Thank you for your kind words Chuck... especially since mine didn't even make top 10.

Congrats to the winner & the others in the top ten.

I was so pissed! I nearly threw my TV off my balcony. I haven't been this upset since Lexi and Mark died. I mean... come on... first Denny, then George... Lexi and Mark... April's baby... and now this! UGH! crybaby At least they didn't kill off Christina.

After I saw Sprite, Buz and Nymphwriter entered I thought why bother. But I'll probably enter to just prove I'm a hopeless optimist.

Just the fact you think mine is worthy is an honor. But seriously... enter... try... expand you options. This was my first try at hardcore and I kinda enjoyed it.

I think that I've come up with something that might work and I'm so excited. Of course the challenge for me is that I'm so sweetly innocent and absolutely wholesome that I may not be able to come up with something "deep and dirty" enough. angel7

Wait... did I read that right? Okay ABG, you'd better start sharing what your smoking. Regaeman Man

Topic The Split of Our Front Page - Stories/Poems
Posted 04 Apr 2015 11:02

The separate poem and stories tabs have helped give attention to the amazing poems we get, and still gives the stories their due time on the home page. I give those pieces more time on the "first" page especially with the current comp, without taking away from all the great poems our writers produce. Of course not everyone will like the change. My first master teacher always told me, "The only person who likes change is a wet baby." But change is good, and I think this was a good change for all our writers: those who write only stories, and those who produce so many amazing poems. My 2 cents

Ah, well. d'oh!

I guess this thing is outdated then?

"New Stories only should be entered, not stories you've previously submitted here, or that have been published anywhere else online. Only standalone stories should be submitted, not those which are part of a series. Stories should be less than 12,000 words. Longer stories will be rejected.."

If the 10K limit is going to be super strict, then I'll just hold on to this story then for the foreseeable future until I can figure out what to do with it.

That old limit was how a couple of my earlier pieces slid through. Since then, the 10K limit has been in place (except when we had the Flash Erotica comp) and I for one am glad. I am no stranger to going over that limit and I've learned to either reign myself in, or just accept it will be a multi-part story.

From the comp page itself, it says this:

Stories for this competition should be under 10K words and contain one or more edgy sexual elements that puts the focus on the Hardcore and successfully melds the ‘deep and dirty’ with ‘the erotic’.

You're talented enough to write one within the guidelines of the 10K word limit. If this current one isn't going to make that limit, then break this one into two or more parts. The world wants & needs your amazing writing talents.

Thank you Mysteria, BowHunter, & Trinity! I needed to see this after the week I've had. Thank you all for putting a smile back on my face.

I owe a lot to Ruthie, Sprite, and of course WSCLG who has no problem in telling me when my stories are a bloody mess. And a big thanks to Liz for always giving me the advice that has kept me going.

Yes, vote count and average score are hidden for comp entries until the competition has closed.

You can see that someone voted on your story or poem on your timeline, but it won't tell you what they gave. So, it will say someone voted, but not, they gave you a 4, for example. This is how some keep track of making the minimum. Now, the standing rule is comments equals votes, and for the most part, that is true. But some like to vote without commenting.

I hope this helps make a bit more sense of this.

I wish that schools weren't so over crowded, and parents would actually parent their child and/or children. Stop being afraid of who your child might call. If you're raising your child right, you have nothing to fear. Trust me, a bit of discipline goes a long fucking way! They aren't entitled to iPads, smartphones, laptop computers, or cable TV. They won't stop breathing because you don't buy them an X-Box, Play Station, or other video game system. The world won't end because they don't get to post on Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media site. Making them wash dishes, feed the family pet, take out the trash, and other chores build character. It does NOT cause permanent damage!

And, if your child's school provides them an iPad, laptop, or other device, DON'T FUCKING TAKE IT FROM THEM! Don't go on because you're horny. Because the only person who gets in trouble is your child! That device was provided by the school district, is school district property, and you fucking signed the form accepting the responsibility for it! So stop abusing it!

Finally, if anyone thinks teaching is easy, spend a day in my classes. You'll be running for the hills. My kids can smell fear & they love fresh meat. My smallest class has 30 students, my biggest has 32. That is way too many for the age group I work with. Any fool who says class size reduction doesn't work, ISN'T A FUCKING TEACHER!!! I know for a fact from first hand experience it does!

I'd tip my hat to Wonder Mods RUTHIE and NYMPHWRITER except the glare off my bald head might strain their eyes. ;)

I can't believe I missed this a year ago. Thank you so much!

There have been so many mods that have interacted with me and gave me advice and even one that cut me down to size. Which I'm grateful for. You know who you are. Learning to not only listen to others opinions but respect them, even if I don't agree.

Nympwriter , Milk Redman, Lisa, Sprite (and her humor), Raven star, Dancing Doll, Sweet as candy, DanielleX, Buz, avrgblkgrl, Callisto, Poppet, ruthie, so many more. It is all possible because of Nicola.

Thank you Chuck! That made me smile!

OMG so much flattery... I too wanna become a mod please, please hehehe.... Even a Deputy Mod will do please, lol....
Well umm frankly, my initial experience with mods is not worth mentioning. I took them as stalkers or police.... but later I realized that they're here to guide me and they're also like me and that they're also not foolproof, so I relaxed. And later when I got some of the mods as friends I started loving them.
Ok coming over to my favorite mod.... I think my favorite mod should be more of a human than a robot.... more of a friend than a boss.... more of a teacher than a catcher....and above all without any prejudice... omg what I'm doing lol.....
Alright, I've found KatieElizabeth and NymphWriter very loving and considerate mods.... :)

PS: Mods who wish to to be highlighted and praised here, can contact me anytime..... service will be free, which imply no fee if you respond within five minutes after reading this.... hehehe :P

Thank you Peri!

I never expected to see my name in this thread, but to see it three times from three amazing authors... really touches my heart. Thank you all.

Topic 3 good things-3 bad things
Posted 17 Jan 2015 15:39

Three Good Things:
1. Earning RRs on my writings. Just knowing someone thought they were worthy of such an honor still makes me smile.
2. Meeting so many amazing writers.
3. Becoming a Mod and being in a position to help the writers (and if I'm the one any of you fear... PM me and tell me why.)

Three not so good things:
1. The number of odd requests I've gotten for pics, meetings, and more. I might write erotica, but I don't live it. The number of question I get is about if I've ever fucked a student. I'll make it clear here & now... the answer is NONE! That's a line I will NEVER cross.
2. Not winning an EP or a contest! Seriously, why do so many amazingly talented writers enter the comps? (yes, I'm totally kidding here.)
3. Losing amazing writers. Some of my favorite writers have left Lush for their own reasons and I'm so sad. crybaby

Posted 10 Jan 2015 22:13

Topic All We Need Is Just A Little Patience...

clapping Thank you Chrissie! I do understand the frustration but as Nicola said, our average turnaround for stories is 24 hours. As someone who has posted on one of those "other" top 3 sites, I've been the victim of a two-week delay for what I saw was no real good reason (my story was not rejected for any reason) except there was a story contest and thus, my piece got pushed further and further down (mind you, this is my best, educated guess.) read2

Topic Questions concerning the new Membership options can be asked here
Posted 02 Jan 2015 22:01

A good question for Gav would be if people can use gift cards if they don't have credit cards. (American Express, Visa and Master Card have them.)

Lush Stories is a very unique place. It is like an adult facebook. I know being an amateur writer this is like home for me. The other sites are just not nearly as nice as here. Here at Lush, we have a moderating staff that is superior. All stories are checked and verified. Other sites they are just checked and go right up in a matter of minutes. But, the quality is nothing like it is here.

I have seen other sites on the net that make you pay monthly dues. I really don't think $10.00 or $20.00 is going to kill anybody. Think of all the fun you have had here for the last 6 years on a free site.

I'm sure the monthly costs to run this site is enormous. I think the change will be good down the road. Perhaps, they will add other cool and exciting features.

Lush Stories is already a wonderful site for amateur writers. I imagine it will keep getting better.

I do believe I saw a forum posting from Nicola the other day. You all are getting a bronze membership until July. She is giving you time before you have to pay.

This is just my 2 cents.

Hugs and Licks...xoxoxoxo

First off... Thank you Mysteria for your kind words. We do strive to have a site with quality stories. If this site had the ad traffic Facebook had, we wouldn't need to charge. But if you think about it, all the "games" with the "in game purchases", the money doesn't just go to the game company, but to Facebook at well. This is why there are the three levels. Being given the gift of a Bronze membership for the first six months for those who didn't already have a Silver or Gold already is generous.

It is true that we have Moderators working hard to make sure quality stories get posted. Trust me, we see more than our fair share of crap that we keep from ever reaching the home page (though some of you may not always agree.)

Plus, unlike other site, Lush will promote up and coming authors and it allows us to promote our ebooks (and for the record, I don't have a book yet, just a story in an amazing anthology thanks to another member here.)

Everyone has the right to their opinions. It saddens me to see so many people threaten to boycott Lush over something so simple. I hope once everyone has some time to realize this isn't the end of the world.

In the absence of A HAT the Little One throws her panties into The Ring... (They are always looking for New Judges...)

xx SF

(And I should point out that it is THE WORST, HARDEST, MOST THANKLESS job on LS...)

You'll lose friends if you do it.

Not A Single Comp Entrant ever enters without thinking, "I think I may have a fucking shot at this..." (I've entered THREE, never even been placed in top 10... And I am NOT unconnected... That doesn't matter in Comp... I wish it DID but it don't... Quite the opposite, in fact...)

People have NO FUCKING IDEA how much BOLLOX is involved in the Comp Judging... (I've done it more than once and it's like a bunch of lawyers dancing on the head of a pin...)

But our Comps showcase the very best of what we do (FROM ENTRY LEVEL!) and I stand over every decision we make.

Bring on the next one...

xx Steph

I always toss my panties into the ring. And by "panties" I mean my story. I'm not going to become a judge because I want to win... eventually. I've made top ten once... and I'm determined to win. Each loss makes me try that much harder.
