You're wrong, once again.

And for someone who has said racists things in the past you really should save your 2 cents for a rainy day on subjects like this.

Please explain how I am wrong as you claim. I have NEVER said racist things in the past. You don't know me and yet you constantly make judgments about me based on only heaven knows what you think. Perhaps if you had taken the time to get to know me, you'd know what kind of person I truly am.

Topic What stories would you like to see more of on lush?
Posted 13 Sep 2015 18:56

Because I know a few authors better than others, I know when what they write is based on more "truth" than fiction. I'm sure we have a lot of stories here that are more truth than fiction, but we assume they are fictional because this is a story site with stories that are clearly fictional (sci-fi, supernatural, fantasy, etc.) I'm sure most authors here have used an element of their real live and woven it into a fine fictional tale. I've had situations that were the foundation for some of my pieces because they allowed for a great fictional situation.

Honestly, I'd love to see more new authors with more great stories. Happily... that's really not much of an issue.

Topic February Fast Approaches... Donald Trump is being taken seriously... Should we be TERRIFIED???
Posted 13 Sep 2015 18:46

The fact that Donald Trump is doing so well warms my heart. He is living proof that the world we think we are living in is sham and illusion. I have long believed that life is a dream, and Trump's presidential campaign has finally proven me right. It also lends credence to the theory that our universe is actually a computer simulation. I had my doubts, at first, when I heard that theory, but now I see how true it is. We are living in a computer simulation and the programmer is Lewis Carroll.

Ever since I was a little girl, I've longed to live in Wonderland. Not just to smoke the hookah with the caterpillar , or to experience the feeling that I could grow and shrink at will, enabling me to beat up bullies and climb up into men's urethras and ride out on a glorious stream of... well never mind that. Anyway, my dream has come true and I am finally living out my dream. We are living in a world that totally defies logic and yet is constructed on mathematical theorems. One and one no longer equals two, therefore the sky's the limit.

"Oh brave new world that has such creatures in it," Billy Shakespeare wrote, centuries before Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson and the multitude of Republican candidates appeared. What a fantastic and wonderful time we live in when truth is whatever we want it to be and facts count for nothing. What are your facts, after all, compared to my beliefs, however without merit my beliefs may be. We can twist every thing to suit ourselves, so we don't have to worry about things like climate change and gravity anymore. The mighty right wing has solved all of our problems. Just saying it makes it so.

Fascism is coming to America, just as Huey Long predicted, wrapped in the flag and waving a bible, but don't worry, it's all just part of the dream.

Bitch please... stop hording the good shit and pass that damn hookah... you & the caterpillar have had enough. Regaeman Man

I don't care for it ..I believe we as people should be able to be free to say what we want when we want it
yes it might not be nice it might even be cutting ..but its our right.

America goes on and on about Freedom of Speech and how much its our right to say what we want but then when we do
someone usually gets really mad and is all you can't say that
awhile back they wanted to censor Huck Finn because it used terms they no longer seem to be able to handle in this time
but the thing is that was something written way back and its also not anyways work of art to challenge but Mark Twain's and as he is dead
we can't go about asking him to change things nor should we.

We take away rights all the time and if we limit peoples speech what is next?

While I agree with you that we should NOT censor Huckleberry Finn or Tom Sawyer , we should not forget that words hurt and many have a very nasty, negative history.

There is a reason the term mentally retarded is no longer used in public schools in regards to students with special needs. Part of it is due to more accurate diagnosis of conditions (Down's Syndrome, Autism, etc.) that were once lumped into that category or diagnosis, and the other is that MR was and still is used to degrade people the way the "N" word was used toward blacks. I teach autistic students as well as those with specific learning disabilities mixed in with regular ed kids.

Nigga is so much more warm and affectionate..."nigger" will get you in trouble every time.

And if a white person says either they are called a racist. Nigga is just a way for a black person to say the other word without the negative connotation. Honestly, there are so many other words in the English language that they could use instead that there is no need for that "shortened" version of said word. My 2 cents

But I've read your stories! You could come up with dozens (at least) of other, more colorful ways to express that thought to them, I'm sure. Use your creativity - you know, tell them you're going to go home and play fireman and you're going to slide down his pole, or take the old hoss' out for a ride, etc. Hell, even saying you're going to play hide the salami is more creative!

This thread is great, and yeah, the "flowery" language used to describe sex, body parts, people, scents, etc can and does get a little outlandish sometimes. I sort of figure it's just a matter of people trying too hard to be different or unique, or maybe put their own personal stamp on it. I hate to be critical of people for trying too hard, so when I laugh or shake my head I don't do it publicly, at their expense, but privately. I hope people will show me the same courtesy because I feel sure I've been guilty of it as well. On the other hand, it's maybe something your true friends should tell you!

As far as using 'fornicate', I believe I did just recently. Actually I was handing a magazine to a friend of my wife's to give to her husband, and what I said was "Here, this is for Nick, Kate."

Okay, I apologize...

Never apologize for being awesome!

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I could come up with may more colorful metaphors for sex or other things I often I do. I have to be extra creative when I curse or swear. For example, instead of saying, "Stop shoveling the bullshit." I might say, "Stop shoveling the manure." I also have used the term, "baloney," or when I'm really frustrated I'll say, "fecal matter." Trust me, the kids figure out what I want to say, and learn new and creative ways to cuss. I do it so the kids can see that the standard fare of curse words aren't always the only choice.

Maybe being a teacher has helped me develop a good writing style. Maybe being a write has helped me become a good teacher.

Parents may be legally free to force their religion on their children. But what if that means their kids will be refused life saving treatment? Should professionals be allowed to overrule a persons wishes/believes if those pose a threat to their own life or that of their children? Do we need to protect people against themselves? Do we need to protect children against their parents? Are there exceptions to that? If so, is religion such exception?

For me one's religious believes are no more special than their political convictions and so in my mind they shouldn't be granted any more value/privilege than that. It's just a believe. People tend to have many believes. If a person is capable of thinking for themselves I'd say they're free to choose whatever they want even if the consequences are severe for themselves. Not if they're severe to others, including their children.

I understand your point now. I was speaking in the realm of day to day lives. I despise the fact that some parents use religion to prevent their kids from necessary vaccines and now diseases like the measles are on the rise. Of course, idiots like Jenny McCarthy aren't helping much either in this debate.

I remember when I was in college we read a book about a family from Laos that had a child from all the descriptions, had epilepsy. Yet, modern medicine could do nothing to heal the child. Only when the family returned to their ancient, religious ways did the child somewhat recover. Who's to say who was right and who was wrong.

However, unless we change the 1st Amendment, that grands freedom of religion, there isn't much more we can do.

All the words you guys say you shouldn't use, I do.:-"

Just yesterday, I asked my son, "Have you fornicated yet?"
"No mom, I haven't did any fornicating," he replied.
"When you fornicate, will you tell me?"
"Believe me when I say," he said, looking me in the eyes, "when I fornicate you will be the only person I say 'I've fornicated' to."
"Okay," I smiled. I love that we are so open with each other.

Somehow I could see my son & I having this conversation as well. Lfunny Thanks for the laugh girl! Lfunny

I think we agree on that. But it poses a few questions:
- What about the children these folks may have? Should they be kept from getting life saving treatment because of the believes of their parents?
- What about other mental illnesses, like extreme eating disorders or depressions, when they reach the point where they become life threatening?
- Should people be allowed to commit suicide? Suicides may no longer be considered crimes in many countries, but there may be some penalties for those who've attempted it still.

BTW, Morman died almost 1200 years ago already ;)

The same could be said about the Amish. They shun anything modern.

As for eating disorders, mental illness, and depressions, aren't those already considered under the APA as disorders of the mind? Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question.

I know we may never fully understand why people do what they do. Noting makes me crazier than when someone with a little bit of knowledge thinks they know everything (by this, I'm talking about my mother... not you.) My mom has two degrees in psychology and is always getting after me & my son about her behaviors, but can't see her own faults. I know I suffer with minor bouts of depression that I must be watchful with. I'm sure it could very easily become something more serious.

I hired a Jehovah's Witness at my place of employment. There are a few odd things about him, like he doesn't celebrate birthdays (his or anyone else's that he knows) and he isn't interested in raises, since he told me he is only supposed to make enough money to live on and not have excess - a plus for most businesses. Everyone has something odd about them. All in all, he is a great guy, hardware working - more so thany many of my other employess. Granted, he doesn't bring his religous beliefs to work and it would not be allowed if he tried (which he doesn't), but he seems perfectly normal to me.

Children of Jehovah's Witness are also interesting, especially when you're a teacher. They know they can't celebrate birthdays or holidays, but often they fell left out. My 1st year teaching I had such a child. I spoke with her parents and we came up with a compromise so I could still include their daughter without violating any rules. I could give her food items, and non-holiday gifts. So, I went out and bought special pencils that were pretty, glittery, or even said, "Third Graders are Great" (that last one I used for her birthday.) I never made a big deal about birthdays, just presented the student a small card and a pencil (my girl did not get the card, but she knew what the special pencil was for.)

I will add she was one of the hardest working children I had, and I thoroughly enjoyed having her in my class. Her work ethic was unlike most and her behavior was wonderful. For that, I must praise her parents. I may not agree with their religious beliefs, but their parenting skills were top notch in this aspect.

Exactly my point. In that particular situation it makes total sense, and sounds like something one middle school teacher might actually say to another in front of kids. You set the context to make the language believable. On the other hand, if those teachers had been alone, or had gone out for a drink after school, and still said 'fornicate' instead of 'screw' it would sound weird.

Oh yeah... if I'm out having a drink with a fellow teacher or two, I might say I'm going to screw or fuck my husband later. Really depends on the person and how comfortable I am with them.

What kind of person drops the word "fornicate" in everyday conversation? What does it reveal about them and how they present themselves to others, or even how they think about themselves?

Not to be a smart-ass or a bitch... but when you're a middle school teacher trying to make an off-colored joke with a fellow teacher with kids in earshot... you can use "fornicate" in everyday conversation. Often... it causes laughter from the adults... and unanswered questions from kids. Mind you, we don't do it often, but we have done it. Usually, it's either a science teacher, the health teacher, or those damn English teachers. Those bitches are always trying to expand everyone's vocabulary.

Oh yeah... for the record... I'm one of those "bitches." evil4

Was the chick in the green dress a bitch? Fuck yeah she was! Did she throw us some dirty looks? Yes! I was the recipient of her stinky-eye. And yet, you two did your back-biting bullshit with the one rival school we were forced to deal with for a fucking day and the entire department got blamed because you two prima donnas couldn't keep your fucking yaps shut! Maybe you two should ask yourselves why our department has experienced so much turn-over in the last two years? Out of the eleven of us, only four have been there longer than two years (and one is currently out on maternity leave.) Those of us still on probation don't need this shit to rain down on our heads. Unlike you two, many of us can be fired for your bullshit.

Do the whole department a fucking favor... please. At the next SDD we must attend in November that none of us really want to do... SHUT THE FUCK UP! Some of us really wanted to learn about these new-to-us techniques. Even if the "Queen" of this trainings makes us go (okay... he's not a "Queen"... but he did set off my gay-dar like nothing else.)

I thought most members of the American Psychological Association think they are God themselves. I mean, have you ever met any of them. If so, I rest my case.

Jehovah's Witnesses are a small group, considered to be a strange cult by the mainstream Christian community. Jehovah's Witnesses also won't serve in the military among many other things. They will knock on your door. Of course if you put on some scary loud music and answer the door wearing a red robe and devil's horns while holding a large candle and yell Latin phrases at them, they will leave rather quickly, as in running their asses off. Okay, so some friends and I did that one time, I admit it. I thought those Jehovah's Witnesses were going to piss in their pants. They ran away at Olympic speed. I think the old one high hurdled a hedge.

Lfunny OH fuck! I think I pulled a muscle laughing so hard from reading this. Lfunny

Within any group there are nuts. Whether it's religious or occupational. JWs are weird... I do agree. I don't fully understand Catholics (no offense) much either. They follow rules that make no sense to me. Now, I did not grow up as a Catholic so that could be a HUGE part of my problem. I have issues with any group or religion that tell me I must "submit" to my husband, that his is in charge of me, that his will is law, etc. Fuck that shit! My husband will tell you himself that we rarely make solo decisions. I've told him that the day he expect me to "serve" him is the day he needs to hit the road. Now, do I do shit for him? Of course, because I choose to do so. He does so much more for me often without being asked. We are a partnership.

Any religion or group who tries to tell me my worth or value is less because I'm a woman can go self fornicate! (I mean... go fuck themselves!)

Now, if a person finds peace with a religion or a belief, who am I to judge. My brother-in-law got clean and sober when he found Jesus. I have several friends who find comfort in their religious convictions. So long as they don't try to force their beliefs on me, we're fine. I will never become a JW, a Morman, or a member of the Catholic church. I'm comfortable in my own beliefs and I feel that so long as you don't try to force them upon others, life is good.

God gave us brains & science. Some thing science disproves God. Me... I think there is room in this world for both.
