Posted 06 Mar 2015 21:14

There are so many movie moments that serve as icons within our popular culture and a good many of them feature Jack Nicholson. The opening scene of Don Juan DeMarco however, stars Johnny Depp in a movie far too overlooked.

Giving is a sexual high, receiving is a rare treat. Love both.

Even if only one of your senses was working and you were drunk and there were three lovers in your bed at once I believe you would be able to tell which one was yours.

adele thinks she was fired from her job because she came to work in her home made rope bra and kept icing her nipples so they would stand strong, but it was really due to her shoddy work, the kind evidenced by the fact that she didn't bother to check in rotsen's profile that he is not the woman in the front of his avatar but the guy with his hand down her jeans.

Topic Debt ceiling vote
Posted 19 Apr 2011 08:07

Of course the debt ceiling will be raised. Wealthy people have far to much to loose by a governmental default. There will likely be plenty of sabre rattling, perhaps again right up to the last minute but it will be raised.

Topic Technically correct writing vs. Content.

Anyone who thinks punctuation isn't important needs to read Eats Shoots & Leaves .

Rules about grammar, punctuation and spelling exist so ideas are conveyed in a manner that is consistent and easily understood by the reader. It's not a huge conspiracy to stifle creativity. Most writers find that when they acquire a thorough grasp of the rules and no longer have to struggle with grammatical details, they are able to explore new paths. It liberates, not smothers, their imagination.

Bingo! Errors are forgivable - everyone makes them. *points at self* But I need a good tale. I have to connect with at least one character.

Nailed it! Follow up whack for good measure.

Rules of Grammar might be viewed as traffic laws. They keep the flow of traffic going smoothly and usually keep the carnage to a minimum. Of course there are always those who break the rules. Often the most talented drivers like the most talented writers become the most reckless. They Speed. They pass on hills. They run red lights. They drive drunk (Faulkner is reported to ALWAYS have had a bottle of bourbon on his desk). Even the very best of those most reckless with the rules risk horrible crashes, but understand that they at least KNOW the rules and sometimes by their actions create revisions in the rules that make the traffic of words flow easier or in a more entertaining fashion.

Form intertwines with function. Technically correct writing is not at all at odds with content, it works in harmony with content.

Topic Cure that hangover!
Posted 14 Dec 2010 11:54

Since a hangover is essentially an electrolyte imbalance, you usually wake up thirsty, often earlier than you really want to. My best remedy is to force down as many glasses of a sport drink (Gatorade, etc.) when I first wake up along with some vitamin I (a couple of Advil) and go back to bed for another hour or so if I can.
