Yeah, sprhr2. Get a brain and do some goddamn research like wellmademale.

laughing3 Seriously? I'm getting bashed for using crowdsourced research (feel free to do some research on the benefits of that, study some Hayek, etc.) and your counter is ALTERNET?!?!?! Let me just counter with something equally unbiased from Fox News :P

Topic: Why are most American men circumcised?
Posted: 02 May 2015 19:29

Ajax didn't say anything. i just posted a link to an article on a potential risk of being uncircumcised. Makes a bit of sense to me , seem valid.

You make it sound as if circumcised men are being robbed of the quality of thier orgasms due to lack of foreskin. Very amusing .

You said it and posted the article - I've heard it, and agree with the point in the article you posted. I was just saying I think getting circumcised and counting on the slight reduction in transmission that it provides (instead of using a condom) is a terrible STD prevention strategy.

As to your second point - I'm not saying that the quality of their orgasm is any less - just that my understanding (since I don't know of any study scientifically examining number of strokes to get off or anything silly like that) is that circumcised men are slightly desensitized due to the constant exposure, and therefore may require more work to get to the orgasm - not that it is any lower quality experience for him. Hell, I'm sure plenty of guys would be happy to get a few more strokes in :P

Did you just use Wikipedia as a reference? ...not once, but twice? That is NOT a reliable resource.

Thanks for taking the time. I understand your viewpoint much better now.

Actually... http://www.livescience.com/32950-how-accurate-is-wikipedia.html

Wikipedia is not an acceptable ACADEMIC source... but that doesn't mean it isn't an accurate source. If you have some contrary evidence to that or a suggestion of better sources for the argument, I'm all ears.

Are you saying buz's post is akin to saying cancer sucks? Or something like that? I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you. BUT, that fucking avatar severely discredits some of the rather intelligent things you say. Look at that fucking thing. You could pop out of a dark alley wielding a machete and I would still die laughing before you even took a swing at me.

No, I was saying that it was an emotional, hyperbolic (is that the adjective form of hyperbole? or does that mean a curve in geometry? both?) appeal like a teenager yelling at their parents that they are like Hitler. Yes, if you think that the police are gestapo of course they must be stopped, but that just isn't the case. There are a lot more wickets you would have to hit before you can classify the entire police community in the US as gestapo.

And while we're on the subject of avatars and their ability to intimidate ("magical felix") I could always recommend a more intimidating one for you too. :P I'll look for something to not invalidate my points... maybe Socrates or Da Vinci or something. :)

Freddy Grey wasn't carrying a gun, for the record. Nor was Walter Scott. Nor was Eric Garner. Do i really need to continue down the list?

You could... but we wouldn't be arguing the same point. I am definitely not trying to defend what happened in Baltimore, NYC, etc... I was pointing out that the cops didn't just wake up and decide they were going to be more violent, they are subjected to increasingly violent people (not ALL people). I felt that Buz's comments make it sound like it's the cops fault for being more familiar with military-style tactics, but I see the necessity of cops having to know that stuff to deal with the people they are becoming more and more likely to encounter in their role to serve and protect.

But I am NOT disagreeing that in the process this has contributed to some terrible tragedies as well.

Make sense?

EDIT: Respectfully, please state the source/basis of the highlighted conjecture above. I'll wait.

The ineffectiveness of the standard police patrol pistols and shotguns in penetrating the robbers' body armor led to a trend in the United States (including cities such as Miami) toward arming selected police patrol officers, not just SWAT teams, with heavier firepower such as semi-automatic 5.56 mm AR-15 type rifles.

Also events like Newhall Massacre , etc.

This - 100%! Well stated, Buz.

I respectfully disagree that this is well stated. It's an emotional argument using fear, hyperbole, and the huge broad generalizations that he rallies against. He complains that the 90% of citizens are getting treated like they are part of the 10%, but then proceeds to address the cops in the same way, pinning the actions of a few on everyone in law enforcement across the country.

Personally, I think that it's probably WAY more than 90% that are unarmed civilians, but I don't know the numbers. I think the public's view of the percentages is probably so skewed by the representation in media we would be shocked to know the real numbers.

Police need to be police like they used to be, not military forces targeting civilians.

At one time police were proud to use the motto "To Protect And Serve". They have totally abandoned that and no longer have the trust, respect or support of the citizens. 21st Century police in the USA closely resemble Adolph Hitler's SS Gestapo in morals, attitude and tactics. That needs to end immediately!

Well, the police used to be like that... then criminals started carrying automatic rifles and slaughtering cops who couldn't protect the rest of the civilians going up against that with old school revolvers. The increase in the weapons criminals used forced the police to respond. You want them to go back to carrying pea shooters - you're going to have to get the criminals to stop getting automatic rifles first (which isn't a matter of gun control - those guns are already illegal).

Was I paying way too much for a law school no one had ever heard of? Sure, but it had it’s benefits too. Probably the reason it cost so much was the location - a brand new building in downtown San Diego. It was walking, even stumbling, distance to any number of fantastic bars. Tonight though, I wasn’t looking for fancy or upscale. It was the end of finals and I could think of nothing I...
