An Act of Desperate Joy

Often when we’re in
the supermarket

I wish you’d suddenly strip me,
grab a bottle of
Chardonnay from the shelf

pour it over my instant nakedness
and drink it from my
thrilled and grateful skin.

Some might say that is going too far,
in a supermarket
on a Thursday afternoon,

treating the customers
to our act of desperate joy

but the arousal in this woman’s body
says otherwise.
