I approached your fortress without fear
The mote made me giggle
The alligators were a nice touch
But nothing could scare me away
I was determined to get closer to you
I entered the dungeon to find the maze
I treaded carefully, learned my way around
Every like and dislike
Every hope and dream
Every concern and uncertainty
Your past never deterred me
I navigated my way to the final barrier
Only a thick wall between me and your heart
Brick by brick, I took it apart by hand
Sometimes patiently
Sometimes not so much
Some bricks came with tears
With arguing or with silence
Some provided support for the other when needed
And other bricks came with tentative kisses
Exploratory touches
And while the wall still remains up
I have finally completed my mission
Your heart now opened up to me
Every effort through this journey was worthwhile
