Stepping in and out of my life,
Treating me as your own personal retreat.

You're all consuming.

Taking your fill until there is nothing left,
Nothing left but an empty shell,
Leaving me to heal,
To salvage the damage that you cause.

Do you see it?
Has leaving me broken made you better?
Stronger perhaps?
Of course, it has.
 
The destroyer of me,
Eater of my mind,
Breaker of my soul,
Not once but multiple times.
 
You are toxic,
But I let you in,
Out of some misplaced guilt,
Over some misguided love.

The demands that I must love you,
That I must always take it.

And I do.

You need me,
I don’t need you,
There has to be a limit,
A limit to my destruction.

But I keep letting you in,
And you keep breaking me.
