Another Day In The Life Of Miranda

Tags: love
Wind carrying her true love's whispers
Forever calling out her name

The once quickened pulse that skipped
Now beating dispassionately in her veins

A smoldering candle on the nightstand
Extinguished of its flame

Rose petals scattered earlier with precision
All that remains
Now laying trampled upon the floor

Just another day in the life of Miranda

Not worth dwelling on anymore

As she steps out on the second story veranda
The empty driveway below greets her stare
Half naked for all of her neighbors to witness
She stands without a care

At some point she reached a decision
This unpleasant turn wouldn't ruin her day

Like that brewing ache that visited nightly
Renewing within her heaving chest
Ever so taut and tightly

A familar lie she stomached anyway

Running an impatient finger like a thief
Along her silken stockinged thigh
Shutting her painted eyelids for a moment brief
Escaping the dawning light in the sky
Letting out an exasperated sigh
Not daring to turn over the same old leaf
Questions always beginning and ending with,
Why?

Morning shade continues to slip
Moon exits the stage of the play
Truth lingers for her to face

She chooses to look the other way

A smoldering candle on the nightstand
Extinguished of its flame
By winds carrying her true love's whispers
Forever calling out her name

It's just another day
She tells herself

Another day in the life of Miranda
