Believe In Fate

Believe In Fate

You know I don't believe in fate
But somehow it must be the truth
For how can this go unexplained
The way I found my life in you.

Adrift without a path to trod
The mists of drifting raindrops fell
And dampened all my dreams of joy
It was an aimless way to live.

Dreams came and went within my mind
Of soft caressing hands so fine
That touched my face and fed my soul
With tenderness and selfless love.

I felt that I had known before
A heart as strong and true as yours
That somehow many lives were lived
And you and I had filled the roles.

I may have stumbled as I walked
Through drifting leaves of wasted time
And tripped my way to useless grief
In hopes that love would come my way.

You came to me with open arms
Your eyes aglow with loving charm
And asked of me no promises
Just gave and gave and took a chance.

The pasts we lived were never lost
The future is not filled as yet
The present is our own to live
And with your heart my soul is blessed.

Rejoice I say, rejoice my dear
We both have gained in this new world
So let the tears of happiness
Rain down around our dance of glee.

You do not know, you never may
How much you always mean to me
But if these words can mend my faults
All credit will descend on you.
