Reality overcomes infatuation
There was a time

When it was new

My heart missed a beat

When I saw you

There online

Charming, different

Teasing and laughing

Beguiled by you

Your rough edges

Made sparks rubbing against me

I paid no attention

To what happened

When I was absent

Time zones saw to that

You wanted me all for you

But would not give the same

Demanding ownership

Taking more than you would give

Because you had to be free

To be here or gone

For me to risk everything

On the unknown

I cannot, I will not

One cannot build on quicksand

And I need to live by a safe harbour

There will be another for you

I know – very soon

Your emotions like your roots

Are not very deep

Perhaps you will remember me

And smile

Goodbye
