Have You

Have you ever, ever, ever
Been adrift on open sea?

Had someone close
Shy away
For forces that were unseen?

Soft, muted whispers
Intimate, quiet
Exchanged in the silent night

Warm hands caressed
Shared sighs
A passionate exchange of touches

Fingers trembling, shaking
Subtle movement
Body shifting, twisting on sheets

Skin growing slick
Fire burning
Strangled groans and moans erupt

Sharply uttered whimpers
Body arching
Fingers flying, catching, grasping tight

Exploding passion, cries
Dazzled eyes
As tension peaks and flashes

Fluttering slowly open
He's gone
Hasn't been there at all

"I just can't"
His words
Door shutting, quiet with finality

Have you ever
Ever tried
To grasp at the wind?

I have and
I've failed
And the desperation is empty

Flames burned brightly
Now cooling
Where love embers once flickered

Two words altered
Changed it all
Heart now laying broken, bleeding

But love makes
Some promises
I won't fear trying again

They say that
The first
Is the hardest after time

I've tasted love
Had lust
Broke that long dry chain

The cooling ashes
Blow away
Fallen tears are wipes away

I'll save it
Hold it
But save my heart again

Love has hurt
I'm okay
And moving on, a new day
