Just a Game

Entertained by my heartache
In my world of dark,
She shone like a light,
Becoming a beacon,
To guide me through the night.

As beautiful as a siren,
But innocent as a lamb.
And my heart sailed forward,
Without worry of being damned.

Straight into her arms,
Which beckoned me near;
For I longed for her touch,
And to be rid of my fears.

She smiled so sweetly,
As I handed her my heart,
But her smile turned wicked,
As she ripped it apart.

Down on my knees,
I looked into her eyes,
Searching for a reason,
Behind all of her lies.

Her laughter rang loudly,
She was entertained by my pain,
I meant nothing to her,
It had just been a game.

I needed her love,
Some kind of a sign,
That this life's worth living,
That things would be fine.

Instead she glanced down,
As I lay dying on the floor,
Her eyes turned to ice,
And she walked out of the door.

A devil in disguise,
Laying in wait,
For a lost soul like me,
To seal his own fate.
