For Elliot
I looked into the mirror

Of my soul,

Saw that it was cracked and broken.

I hobbled along only half alive,

As I sat upon my cemented bed of hope.

It had been a long time since I felt it.

Love had forsaken and forgotten me,

Taken too many pieces of my heart,

Leaving me with only pain and regret.

Looking down at my hands,

Something had fluttered

Into my weary vision.

A glimpse of a shadow

Caught my attention.

An apparition, a ghostly shape.

I rubbed my eyes in disbelief.

It was you.

Karma was paying me back

A thousand fold of heartaches endured until now.

I looked into the mirror of

My soul again and saw that

The universe was more beautiful than ever

In bringing you to me,

Gently whispering that we belong together.
