I wake up to a text, that simply reads..

The days seem so long without you, I watch the minutes slowly pass by.
Longing to see your smile, hear your voice, and look into your eyes.
No matter how bad of a day we may have, it all slips away once we are with each other.

The pain I feel when we must say goodnight, feels like a knife to my heart.
Whether it is you or I that have to hit the "End Call" button, it makes me cry.
I see the pain in your eyes when I am crying.
You know these are tears of pain that are falling down my cheeks.
Longing and wishing to feel your warm body laying next to mine.
The nights are even longer without you, but I know this distance will make us stronger.

My life, I often image being your Army wife.
Waking up every morning sharing the same bed.
Making your breakfast, and seeing you off to work.
Waiting by the door every evening, for you to come home.
Jumping into your strong arms, feeling your lips upon mine.

The nights would be filled with sitting on the porch, after the kids are in bed.
You holding me as we relax on the swing.
Talking about our day and laughing at each others jokes.

The passionate love making that would take place in our bed.
The soft kisses and caresses, sends a burning flame through me.
Feeling your arms around me as I fall asleep on your chest.
Dreading the 4 am alarm, that will always come to soon.

My Soldier, I have promised you that I will stand beside you.
Support you throughout your career.
Waiting for your return, whether its from a day at work, or a year of deployment.
This "Toughest Job" they speak of, I volunteered for it.
This life was my choice.
The nights along, the tears I will shed, will always be worth it.
This is the life, I have always wanted.
I will never leave your side.
My heart belongs to you, no matter where you take it.

Camoflauge from head to toe, standing so proud.
My hero, my US Soldier, the love of my life.
I will always be your biggest supporter.
Always eager to tell people about my Soldier.
I will never walk away, when it gets tough or lonely
No matter how long you may be gone.
I will wait for you, with my arms open.
When you finally return home.

For right now, I will patiently wait.
I will take it one day at a time.
