Next Thursday

A random meeting leads to a meaningful connection.
We see each other every Thursday.
Meeting at the local aquarium,
as it's become our special place.

She stands across the darkened room.
Her angel face bathed in the light
from the mammoth tank of sea creatures.

I love the sense of wonder and serenity
on her face as she watches the fish glide by.
She never fails to make me smile.

She looks across the room and we make eye contact
like we do every Thursday. We smile widely.
Her face, her manner, and her eyes make me melt.

I've often dreamed of being with her.
Holding her, kissing her, touching her.
I see myself keeping her warm and safe and loved.

I dream of lying with her in a field of buttercups.
Caressing her back and kissing her neck,
while we bask in the warm sunshine.

As she returns my smile, she suddenly
turns away. She's shy and doesn't really
understand the true pull she has on my heart.

She is perfect to me. She understands me.
We have made a connection without
ever truly meeting. It seems inconceivable.

We share this time knowing it's all we will have.
It's not enough, but it has to be this way.
We will always have to go back to our real lives.

...and long to see other again next Thursday.
