Our Love

You know my every secret,
The darkness of my past.

More than any other,
Yet still you held me fast.

You told me everything,
But I loved you still.

Nothing in your life,
Could stop the love I feel.

All the little kinks,
And all the crazy bends.

We talked and talked,
Became the best of friends.

I shared my life,
You shared yours.

Families came next,
They became ours.

There were other things,
Best not spoken of.

Even with depravity,
We had built our love.

We had the best,
The best we ever had.

We then lost it all,
Because we both were bad.

You had needs,
And I had mine.

For a while they meshed,
Everything was fine.

As our love deepened,
Things began to change.

We spoke not our hearts,
Suddenly out of range.

I wanted only you,
Then your jealousy too.

You didn't want to limit me,
I only wish you knew.

Now there is another,
Who held me while I cried.

He doesn't want to own me,
Only be by my side.

I am hurt,
Confused and oh so sad.

Suffering the loss,
Of something beautiful we had.

Don't think it wise,
To step into the past.

Afraid the pain would kill me,
If it didn't last.

This is not the way,
I wanted this to end.

I will always love you,
And need you as my friend.

Hope you can forgive me,
I know this breaks your heart.

I know I feel the same,
My world is torn apart.
