Stormy seas

Through a stormy ocean of feelings,
Lost, aimlessly floating,
Wind tearing at the sails,
Ripping and shredding,
Waves crashing against the hull,
At the rudder,
Clinging to hold on,
Waiting for the storm to pass,
Get through it,
Find calmer waters.

There is no set course,
No known destination.
Nothing but foreign waters lay ahead.
Yet a hope remains
Of one day reaching the shores.
A place to rest,
Rebuild all that is tattered and torn,
Find strength for new journeys,
Through calmer, friendlier waters,
Perhaps a companion to sail with.

For now, the storm must be ridden.
There is no way to escape
The chaos that exists in the soul.
One day, maybe it will calm.
That is what keeps me going,
Even when all hope seems lost.
