The day

The day

Tags: love, loss, regret
The world was dark,
as black as night.
I walked in shame.

But in my life,
glowing brightly,
you just came.

I knew that nothing,
could ever really,
be the same.

On the day you met me.

You took my hand
and pulled me up,
you dried my eye.

We gently kissed,
I wet your lips,
which once were dry.

We loved for hours
the open sky.

On the day you took me.

We bought a house,
a couple's nest.
You made it ours.

You bought it light.
You filled the rooms
with smells of flowers.

You painted it,
while I just worked,
for hours and hours.

On the day you made me.

My hours grew long,
saving money
for a family.

I did not know
you were getting sad.
I did not see.

I showed neglect,
you didn’t realise,
that wasn't me

On the day you hated me.

So now I sit,
an empty shell.
There's no more cheer.

I sit and cry,
with none to see,
the lonely tear.

Through my neglect,
I have made,
nobody here.

On the day you left me

One day soon.
I’ll love again,
my heart will mend.

I’ll be a better
lover then
and more a friend.

And I will never,
until I die,
neglect again

On the day I find me.
