The Mask

The Mask

I must wear a mask

To hide the pain

From loving and missing you.

I tell everyone I am fine.

But inside, I'm dying.

I do not smile.

For my smile is a facade.

It is me grimacing.

You are my secret I cannot tell.

I may be a fool, but I

Still love and miss you.

The mask I wear,

I wear it so well.

I long for the day

I'm free from the pain

Of loving you.

The day I genuinely smile.

The day the mask gets put away.

Little did I know how dearly

The price of

Loving you I would pay.
