The Transformation

A vision of the redemptive work of love...
Such a fragile, beautiful creature,
Breathtaking in every sense of the word.
Whether gazing at your lovely form
Or considering the tenderness of your innermost being.

What I see is all good and above and beyond
Even the harshest critic’s scrutiny.
But you did not always believe this to be so
Because of the dark season...

For years ago,
Before the new you was formed,
They came at you, wielding their deadly swords,
Attempting to crush your wonderfully sensitive, perfect heart.

This ugly, wretched enemy
Was powerfully ruthless, relentless,
Pulling in ever greater numbers, seeking to maim and destroy you
But all to no avail.

Try as they might, they were left frustrated and defeated,
For the Protector would not allow them success.
Nonetheless, the fruit of that season was injurious
And a great healing was in order.

The lies had to be silenced and expunged
And the truth brought to the forefront of your mind,
Until you were able to see what is good and lovely
And daily camp in that light.

You needed to see who you really are,
Your beauty and strength and giftedness.
But it would take a long, hard season
To undo all of their brutal work.

Thankfully, today your eyes are open.
You see what is really real.
You have begun to understand
Just how precious, just how worthy, just how loved you are.

You now see how He looks upon you,
That you are His beloved daughter.
You realize, perhaps for the first time,
That you have tremendous value, that you are all good.

You’ve been smothered in grace and Joy has become a regular state of being.
You see that the need is gone
To hide your face... or
To cover up, to protect your heart.

You are free babe to be just as you are,
Perfection, in His eyes and in mine.
So enjoy this new-found freedom my love.
Crush the old mask and discard it forever!
