The Twisted Path

Getting lost in the moment and each other. For him.

Walking on a twisted path,
Us beneath the clouds.
Rain drizzles on our heads,
Spanish moss surrounds.

Walking up the twisted path,
Smell of earth and rain.
Not knowing where it leads,
Not having any aim.

A turn along the path, leads us to a peak.
From atop a cliff, we looked upon the sea,
So vast, deep and epic. Pacific
Waves crashing, hard and free.

On this twisted path, take my hand,
And higher, closer we'll ascend.
Wonder at the beauty,
Not meant to comprehend.

Walking fast, walking slow,
You lead, and then me.
Then we stop, kiss along the twisted path,
You and I. Together, we get lost.

The sun peaks in and warms our skin,
Then it drops away.
A storm looms out on the horizon,
But we laugh, we're unafraid.

All time melts away,
Distance has become near.
Each moment like a rain drop,
To be treasured and held so dear.

I wonder out loud,
"Where does this twisted path lead?"
You answer with a question, "Do you trust me?"
Without hesitation, I say, "Yes, completely."

Distance now again is far,
Separated by land of miles.
Now your touch lives inside of me,
Each memory will forever hold a smile.
