eternal search for love
I waited for you my whole life,

I would have waited for thousands of years more.

How could I not?

There is only one.

Sure, there are many in-between,

Countless thoughtless acts and random encounters.

But always there was only you.

The missing piece in my life.

Did you know?

That fractured forces in our lives would bring us together?

I waited for you as each day rose and fell.

As each endless night passed one grain of sand at a time.

My life had one purpose.

To outlast myself until you were here.

So many eyes met and cast downward.

So many lips kissed and left wanting.

I waited for you.

In eternal hope that paths would soon cross.

That destiny fulfilled would be the end and the beginning.

There can be only one where the heart and mind embrace.

Where unspoken words are understood.

As if spiraling leaves collide mid-air and lock bound to earth.

Could this be the day?

The moment when you save what’s left of me?

I can only wait.

Giving up on you is impossible.

For what would be left?

A life passionless and blackened in despair.

Without any rhythm or rhyme.

Yet forced to live with the drudgery of knowing you are out there.

I watch each door that is opened.

I turn to face footsteps behind me.

My own heartbeat fills my ears.

There is only one.

It is you.

I’m waiting.
