Hard sunlight upon crystal snow,
A frozen realm where love won't grow.
Daffodil shoot in stasis now,
A sleeping bulb, e'er green its brow.

In witching hour, this heart is caught,
With no light now or lesson taught,
And no fruit brought from springtime bloom,
Existence only winter gloom.

Here, potential's rife yet lost,
Caught within hurt's bitter frost.
Here, the light exposes pain;
Always snow, ne'er springtime rain.

Should nature cause the world to turn
And free this heart from icy burn,
I'd give my all, redress cruel harms,
For just a season in your arms.

I know that winter will swing round
Again when summer's full rebound
Has turned the earth to life from ice,
Perfuming skies with autumn spice.

For just one moment, 'neath your kiss,
I'd bask in sun of a springtime bliss;
Yet here I wait in frozen fears,
Bejewelled with lonely lover's tears.

I wait, I wait, my beauty lost
In twilight darkness, lonely frost.
Hope is frozen in the rime;
I wait... I wait for fresh springtime.
