Topic Personal attacks in heated discussions. Acceptable, or not?
Posted 19 Apr 2016 12:20

I came here a long time ago. Late 2009 I think. Could be wrong. I'm old. Wmm.. Milik.. Dirtymartini.. BlackVelvet.. 'ol timers all. We jested and jousted and had some heated debates even back then. But the one thing that everyone had in common is we never took ourselves too seriously.

As I've read through these last 10 pages or so of posts, I see the same thing as back then. A lot of good-natured pokes and making fun of each other. I think that's a reflection on the flexibility and wisdom of the mods. Being on an adult site and interacting with others is like being in a bounce house. Sometimes you're going to bump heads. That being said, there are some who come here with more intent than that and it has been my experience that the mods and alumni are pretty well able to ferret those clowns out and send them on their way.

With regard to the OP.. all is fair.. whether or not someone crosses over a line is in the opinion of the receiver, not the giver. How you respond is on you. 'nuff said..

If enjoying the nature of a heated debate is what you're after, then a thin skin is like going into a sword fight without a shield. I have two rules I follow. Consider the source is one. The other is.. when talking to a fool, make sure he isn't doing the same thing.

Topic Who do I contact about a mistake I found?

In my opinion, bad writing is a subjective opinion and not a relevant standard for everyone. Expression of notions and ideas will come in various forms and manner and should be enjoyed as the author intended. English is an imperfect language. We all make the best of it as we can. Trial and error is part of the process. Good luck on your writing. Look forward to reading your work.

Topic Should creationism be taught in schools?
Posted 21 Mar 2015 14:12

I would differ with the view that creationism is not a religion. It has no basis other than that. Evolution on the other hand is observable every moment of the day by intelligent people who understand that evolution means "to evolve." Teaching creationism in school is akin to teaching comic book super heroes as legitimate beliefs.

The problem that most people have is that they limit their belief to life here on earth, without consideration that life may have evolved elsewhere and spread to here. An open mind is exactly what creationism tries to obliterate.

Topic Should kids in the untied states have to say the pledge of alligence in school
Posted 30 Jan 2014 17:52

Is this a serious thread? I'm not sure how there is even an ongoing patter about it.. there are no Gods.. religion is an industry.. period.. anyone giving money to a religious group should be required to deposit the same amount of funds in my bank account.. the Pledge is nothing more than a tactic.. and prayer in school is merely a distraction from education.. I have spoken..

Topic Do you match your boyfriend's (or gf's) "type"?
Posted 17 Jan 2014 10:03

It has been my experience that having a "type" predisposes you to being a "type".. once you exclude the infinite possibilities offered by a more open-minded approach, you have eternally sentenced yourself to drive up windows instead of fine dining.. my GF isn't my type.. she is my everything..

Posted 13 Jan 2014 20:20

I love moaners, especially ones who are trying to be quiet, but can't!

Whimpers and moans are much preferred to grunts and screams.. the quivering breaths in my ear will work every time...

Topic Is it heckling, or is it something else?
Posted 07 Jun 2013 13:49

I applaude your enthusiasm.. your energetic comments.. and your disgust and anger at what we have done to ourselves WMM.. but corporations.. attorneys.. and politicians bend and tweak basic rights as they see fit to best suit a larger picture that we the people are not privvy to.. we have long been a nation of prejudice and social, political, and religious bias and the only true rights you can expect are the ones you stand up for and enforce at the front door to your home..

Topic Is it heckling, or is it something else?

There is no perfect answer for anything we do anymore.. rope them off.. let them protest.. it doesn't change a thing either way.. our rights are being violated every day.. think Homeland Security..
