About Whitebeard

I am a retired medical professor but now I write.
I've heard it said many times that everyone has a book in them, so I didn't start calling myself a writer until the second one was published.

I write all the time, mostly vanilla but sometimes I get erotic ideas and in the past these have languished on my hard drive. A few have been swapped in chat with friends over the years, but mostly they have just sat on the hard drive. I joined here to give them an airing. My thanks to anyone who has read what I've posted so far, and especial thanks to those who have scored or commented on a story.

Recently, thanks to the stimulation of being on Lush, I have taken to writing more experimental erotic stories. I enjoy imagining characters in situations that don't quite fit the standard stereotypes, or who venture across boundaries. I have also tried to address things like bullying and the unsafe decisions that people sometimes make when they are arounsed or sexually obsessed.

Always happy to talk about writing and I love to chat with other writers.

I did an MA in creative writing last year. I work with some friends to run a small (very small that is) publishing company — all our books so far are novel, short stories and poetry, all vanilla.

Writing. I know that sounds boring, I guess reading comes in there somewhere. I do sometimes ski, I swim now and then, have been known to take an occasional holiday, sometimes at nudist venues - the usuals stuff, but mostly I write. I do ski now and then but if I say that I have written two novels on skiing holidays, you get the picture.

Topic: Mac software for grammar
Posted: 08 Oct 2018 01:48

I've done similar hunting. I've tried Grammarly, Hemmingway and Prowritingaid. As far as I can see if you want any depth of analysis you end up with tool that have to connect to the interenet. Without going into it, my guess is that they must use some big databases to compare what you write with masses of others. If all that was downpoaded to a Mac it woyld probably take a long time to update all the time and chew up a lot of memory. Not a lot of help, but that's what I've found so far. I did an MA in creative wriing as well, though that's more expensive than the software possibilities.

Getting out of the Rut Chapter 4

The exhibition My beautiful new watch buzzed on time and I sneaked out of bed. I should have been groggy, what with only four hours sleep and a hundred and fifty mile drive yesterday. Adrenalin is wonderful stuff; I was as wide awake and on edge as a sprinter in the blocks. Carol was still out of it. I set the motion sensor on the bedroom camera to wake me if Carol moved. I had a...

Getting out of the Rut Chapter 3

The evidence I had an early alarm and packed before breakfast, throwing things casually into my bag with no great attention. Knowing Carol was half asleep behind me, I packed trying to look casual and careless. The trip was nothing special. I do freelance work with clients all over; mostly we meet by Skype, but now and then it needs eyeball to eyeball. Tedious, but that's how it goes. ...

Getting Out Of The Rut

Chapter 1 Is it spying or cheating? Maybe I never should have opened Carol’s laptop but there’s something seductive about spying. Carol was a hundred miles away when I got her password right and the screen opened up to her desktop, file icons scattered across a picture I know she took on our honeymoon, seven years ago. Ironic that, given what I found. I could feel my pulse raging...

This Is Your Lies Chapter 7

I bent down, stuck my key in the lock and released her chain from the floor. "Put your mask on, I don't want you knowing too much about my place." I couldn't resist playing the showman a little longer. I led her along until I stopped with her standing in the middle of the living room. I cuffed her hands behind her back. I took up the slack on the chain and fixed it to a chair. "I have...

This Is Your Lies Chapter 6

After a last look at Ellen, naked under a blanket in the trunk, I shut the lid and drove home by a roundabout route with Angus sat beside me, giving me a chance to size him up a little. I reversed the car up to the door and had Angus lift "Eve" as he thought she was called, out of the trunk and carry her into the house over his shoulder. She was still wearing the hood. I figured that if her...

This Is Your Lies Chapters 4 and 5

I sat staring at the screen for a while. Did Ellen take her phone with her when they went to this club? The first thing she asked when I called was if the kids were okay, so she hadn't planned to be completely out of touch; the chances were that she'd carry her phone. Did I dare look at the tracking software? I got up and watched her breathing for a minute. She was sound asleep. I picked up...

This Is Your Lies Chapter 3

I tried desperately to roll with what Ellen was doing, not that I had any idea what it was. She linked one arm through mine and walked with me to the elevator. She couldn't have been closer. If I had to give a name to our method of locomotion I'd call it a cuddle walk. Finding ourselves alone in the elevator she wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me like there was no tomorrow. I've...

This is Your Lies Chapter 2

I don't know what they said next, I was too numb. I couldn't hear the words. I had planned to watch but couldn’t bear it. Any thought of telling them they were still on camera had gone out of my head, pushed out by the sick feeling and the tears. I left the cameras recording and retreated, looking for my whisky. I opened the drinks cupboard and looked at the bottles. I had four different...

This Is Your Lies

Ellen was curious about having sex with another guy. We went to and fro about it; sometimes we were joking and teasing or kind of hinting around it. I can't even remember where the idea started, did it come from her, or something we heard or read? I don't know. We never got close to the idea of swinging because finding two people who we fancied seemed like a tall order. We did touch on whether...

Don't Shoot the Messenger Chapter 14

Messenger 14 “Do you know where Anthony is?” Julie asked. “No,” Laura shrugged. "I know where he was; but he could be anywhere now." “Anywhere?” “Anywhere within a hundred miles of where I left him. Can't you track him with your phone?” “He left his phone at the office." "Why do you need to find him. He's coming back." “Are you sure? I mean how am I to know?" “He is coming back....
