I like to write erotic stories when I'm out, either at a cafe or park. I waste less time doing that because I'm not in the comfort of my own home, and can't get myself off whenever I feel like it. I also like the background noise.

I tend to use my laptop for writing, but If I'm writing a more than a stroker/flicker I'll often start up a notebook to plan my writing in, and collect items/picture that help me build up clear images of who my main characters are.

Right now, I'm hating...
... people that hold everyone up on the open road, slowing down to unreasonable speeds around the bends, and then proceed to speed when there's a passing lane, making it difficult for the 20 odd cars behind to pass the idiot *grrrr*
... the fact that I have no wine left in the house
... my new story has had nearly six hundred reads, but only 3 votes, and no comments sad

*shakes head*

They're all NZ groups lil' Kiwi silly

You know who Tiki Taane is right? He sings 'Always on my mind', which plays in the background of the most recent BNZ bank ad...
he was in Salmonella Dub... all of the groups have either Dub, soul/jazz or reggae roots (or a combination).

If you like any music with Dub roots, I'd say check them out... if not one, then all.

Then again, I have a feeling we have quite different music tastes.

Whowa Let me explain this before my already shaky music rep goes down the tubes!

Ima born in South Africa, I live in south africa for basically 17 years, then, we move to New Zealand, only been here for a year and a half basically, and I got put off NZ music when I was introduced to flight of the conchords

IMA no Kiwi! Im a fierce Lioness! Hear me RAWR

Lmao! I excuse you completely then, and am no longer concerned :P (btw, I do hope you haven't mistaken my ribbing for hostility)

And Flight of the Conchords are fundamentally a comedy duo, (and a Grammy award winning comedy duo at that), who work though the medium of music... so if you don't enjoy them, it's because your sense of humor is not in sync with their material... personally, I love them, but they're definitely not a reflection of kiwi music, just as there HBO series is not a reflection of an average kiwi, of NZ in general.

Bryan Adams 'Inside and out'

What's an 18 year old doing listening to Brian Adams? silly
Have you tried listening to anything home grown to get you into the mood? Salmonella Dub, The Black Seeds, Trinity Roots, Pitch Black and Fat Freddy's Drop can all get work for me, dependent on the song.

What the hell, who in the name are those bands? American bands?

I will have you know, Spirit (dunno if you remember that movie) made me the biggest Bryan Adams fan, watched it the first time 7 years ago and still going strong!

Lol, alright... I can forgive you for the tone, and for the whole Brian Adams thing, but not knowing ANY of the groups I mentioned is criminal!!!

He's just so God damn yummy!

I especially love him in darker movies, love that Gothic look he pulls off so well.

I did another search... found an article, and in it is a quote from Rick Warren (???)...

"Some churches also do an excellent job of helping believers develop the habits that lead to spiritual maturity (that’s getting to second base)."

Lmfao!

First of all, you poor thing, the stereo situation in your car doesn't sound good... so commiserations.

Secondly, that sounds like the type of song that shouldn't be aired on a Christian radio station, ever! lol... I'm baffled, I even tried a google search, which was most unhelpful.

Undress me now - Morcheeba

I really like Morcheeba, but I think 'Undress me now' is a bit too upbeat for me, but I might give it a go, you never know till you try, right?

Bryan Adams makes me want to hang myself.

to make love to or to fuck to? There is a difference ya know.

Why don't you tell us what you'd listen to on both occasions?

Tech and I only listen to each other. No music is involved.
But the song in my head sometimes sounds like Nine Inch Nail's "I Wanna F**k You Like an Animal.....

NIN's 'Closer' is on my list, lol... have you two tried having it on in the background?

I was about to post a thread asking the same question as the OP, but I did a little search and thought it was much better to bring this back to life, rather than make another.

Mine...

‘Closer’ ~ Nine Inch Nails
‘Paranoid Android’ ~ Radio Head (foreplay/starting out only)
‘Glory Box’/’Roads’/’Only You’ ~ Portishead’
‘George’ ~ Headless Chickens
‘Without You I’m Nothing’ ~ Placebo

And seriously, the whole damn ‘Mezzanine’ album by Massive Attack totally works.

Who else is going to give there favourite bonking songs?

I'd be curious to try them out *grins*

Like the majority of you I get turned on when I write, but in all honesty it can be a bit of a problem. If I'm writing at home, I'll end up getting off, which interrupts the whole process. Then, when I'm back into the writing, the damn problem can recur. It's a nasty little time wasting cycle. So to avoid those issues I take my laptop down to a café, and I write there. It's fantastic really, I get to top up my caffeine levels via espresso, my laptop gets its juice through the cafés power supply, because I'm in public and I can't be getting myself off all of the time (other than that once, but I'm 100% no one knew as all fingers remained on the keyboard) I produce more writing, and I feel a little naughty doing it, which is always fun.

So what I want to know is, for all of you who get turned on when you're writing erotica, what do you do about it?

Do you have the self control to not play? Do you end up getting off, and straight back in to the writing? Do you feel that being turned and denying yourself the big O actually helps you to write?

I'm really curious about this, I love learning about writers habits... especially the habits of writers of erotica *grins*

Interesting question... after reading some of your responses I've really had to think about my limits.

I never thought I would even be able to stomach reading anything incest related, let alone write about it, but last night I posted my first Daddy/Daughter story here. A while ago my ex (who is Dominant) instructed me to call him 'Daddy', and surprisingly I loved it. We started role playing, and I got more and more into it. In my mind this is totally unrelated to my own background and nothing to do with my own Father. I get it if other people don't understand this, a few years ago, I wouldn't have understood it either. I've noticed I couldn't call the male lead in my story anything other than 'Daddy', I'm pretty sure this is because 'Dad' and 'Father' are the names I relate to him, and I've never called him 'Daddy'... I found that quite interesting.

I won't write about anything to do: with children (all characters have to be over the legal age to have sex in my country... which is 16), bestiality, snuff, anything with too much violence, blood play, water sports, scat, necrophilia, and I won't do straight out , but I love writing non-consent/reluctance stories when the women gives in to her on desires in the process of what would be otherwise (or possibly it still is ... a very blurry area ~ maybe I should say, I'd write about , if the victim ended up loving it *shrugs shoulders*).
