Active Ink Slinger

Ya Bear, you're right, I have been doing some lurking. Actually I've been in the place across the street for several days. Wanted to be sure that Verbal wasn't coming in anymore. When I saw it was safe, I came over, but when I did, you were MIA.

In case you hadn't heard about it, Verbal and I got into a pretty serious tussle over some review he'd posted. I was in such bad shape I was sure that I was going to die - even had the headstone prepared...

Hi, Three Beers! I'm One Bear – da Bear of whom you've heard tell! And I'd be happy to store your special bottle behind the bar. That's what we do around here. And welcome! If you've been lurking, then you probably know most of the stuff you need to know about this here bar, but if you'd like the 10¢ tour, lemme know, OK?

...

From what I can see, Ape's done a pretty good job while you were MIA, but it's good to have someone behind the bar that seems to have apprenticed under the Lion.

I thought first that I was going to have to take the bottle with me. Then I tried to give it to your surrogate but somehow included my much smaller personal stash with it. I my second try, I got it down to one bottle, but it was the wrong one. Let's see if I can do it right this time. (And if I can't, I'll take ya up on that 10 cent tour. Might have to anyway as it looks like I've run my post into your quote.)

Hi Trace! wave I'm Kimmi and it's nice to meet you!

I still put stuff on Ping's tab! biggrin Bear, our bartender, is in Canada too and can track him down for payment. Hee Hee

Good to know that Ping's tab is still good. And in that case, Ape, if you'll just bring me a Dos Equis to wash down that Banana Daiquiri... put it Ping's tab. Well, I don't really need it but I'm sure it will help me to figure out the changes around here. Let me try to pass over that bottle again. I really only wanted to give one bottle today, (save the other one for another day), so let me try again.

Active Ink Slinger

Ape, if you're still filling in here - (and if I have figured out how to do this) - put this behind the bar. It's for anyone who wants a good whiskey and doesn't want to pay for it. (I don't remember what brand it is but I do remember it tasting pretty good.)

Rumpleforeskin has been struggling with the new site so JamesLlewellyn, aka Da Bear (his avatar) is now managing the place on his behalf. But he is away due to family stuff so ape is pinch hitting. And you may remember me as Seeker4. I kind of left and came back a new ape. Nice to see you and your whiskey.😉

Thanks, Ape, for the update. Yes, your name change did throw me.

If I can just find a way to leave this bottle of whisky... (the site has changed and I can't remember how I used to add pictures)

While I'm trying to get caught up, I'd take one of those 1 4 2 specials if they're still available. (I used to put my drinks on Ping's tab, but I don't see him around anymore. Guess I'll have to find someone new to leach off. In the meantime, just run me a tab.)

Active Ink Slinger

I was in town and stopped by to see what is happening. Don't recognize most of the patrons, although I see that Sara is still around, and of course, the Lion, but it looks like he's passed his duties over to someone called 'da bear'? I hear that DeviantSusie comes in every couple of days and TonyaL once in a while. Even heard that Buz dropped in the day the Braves won that big game, whatever it's called. Brought yall a bottle of some pretty fine whisky but haven't been able to find anybody to give it to, so I guess I'll take it with me. Stay horny my friends!

Greetings and welcome to Rumplations celebration of, National SCOTCH Day. Just for the record, that's Scotch as in the 'whisky' from Scotland not the adhesive tape or the pudding. In recognition of this fine day, we're having a 'One-for-the-price-of-two' special on the Safeway brand Scotch that passes for the house scotch. No pushing and shoving, there's plenty to go around, trust me. ...

Sorry I missed the party, but I did take the opportunity to finish off a bottle of Scotch that had been gifted me.
(Liked it so much, I was going to buy another - until I found out how much it costs.)

$159.99 ???

Uhm... on reflection, seems I might have missed several parties. (Sometimes RL gets in the way of Lush life.)
Active Ink Slinger
Partying must have gotten pretty wild here last night. Management seems to have wiped out
all the late night activity. I did find the following picture on the bar though.

Looks like I missed a good party!

Something tall, cold and wet, please!

At a party, my second wife introduced me as her first husband. Is it possible she was hinting at something?
Let me have another two fingers of that Blue Label Scotch, (on Ping's tab, of course).

Sorry Trace, but you’re showing your age.

There are these things called Streaming & Binge Watching. I don’t even have a CD player in my vehicles because we plug ‘n play now.

I’m not saying you’re old, but two bits will NOT get you a shave and a hair cut anymore.

Just razzin’ ya!

Not sure who's showing their age here.

The five seasons of the Sopranos are on a 128 GB Micro SD card, along with the first seven seasons of Game of Thrones, several other binge-worthy series, a number of music videos and a few movies, some of which are not available on Netflix, Prime, HBO, YouTube or any other streaming service, and even when they are available on one of those, if you don't subscribe to that particular stream, you either can't get it or you pay through the nose for it. And even if you do subscribe, you may still have to pay an extra fee to watch a particular movie or episode.

By the way, that Micro SD card fits in my phone, my tablet and my laptop, and when I need to listen to anything in the car, I just play it on my phone and it comes out of the car speakers - no wires and no plug 'n play. (I do remember plug 'n play, but didn't that go out with 8 track players?)

Truthfully, I am old, likely much older than you - but old age does not necessarily equal old-fashioned.

Just razzin' ya!

And let me have a couple fingers of Johnnie Walker Blue, straight up, and put it on Ping's tab. As old as he is, he probably won't notice it anyway.

I thought The Sopranos was a game changer too, the way it observed the minutiae of cultural influences. Fascinating. And what a cast!
...

I do have 5 seasons of the Sopranos - 34 GB total. Anybody wants it,
PM me. (I'm sure we can come up with some way to transfer it.)
I'd like to have something tall and cold - adult type beverage - please!

... I don't drink any of that beer if I can help it. I'm partial to Blue Moon and Yuengling... though I had a Kirin Ichiban the other day and it was decent. ...

Blue Moon and Yuengling - both great beers - Kirin too. Visited the Kirin brewerey once - isolated, in the mountains North of Tokyo - had trouble explaining to the Shrinemaster, er brewmaster, why a busload of foreigners would consider the Kirin Brewery to be a shrine. (The entire busload, 28 or so, had prostrated themselves on the tarmac, facing the brewery!) Fun anyway, and the 'hospitality' suite was the best.

It's my birthday so drinks on me. (I mean G's tab for sure) I'll start the night with a shot of tequila please. Nothing special here tonight. Making burgers on the grill and having ice-cream cake. Who'll help me celebrate better than this. Loved the music Carl. Enjoy the rest of your night.

Another Jameson, please - this time tall and straight up.

Carl, you wanted me to dish on the new Godzilla flick. It was really good! The cast is really likable (Vera Farmiga! Bradley Whitford!). And I LOVED the way the first reveal of each of the major monsters was so dramatic and visually stunning, Mothra and Ghidorah particularly. And they brought some of the old school Japanese movie mythology into things, like Ghidorah being Monster Zero and Mothra having the Shobijin (the two girls) helping her out.

The end credits scene isn't really worth waiting around for. And the crass tie-in to the King Kong flicks is a little heaving handed.

Still, two thumbs up here! ...

I'm celebrating tonight if anyone would like to join me. I've been patiently waiting to share my mother's day gift with everyone and what better place to do so than here at Rump's. My oldest is making me a grandma. I'm excited for him and his girl. They are in the process of buying a home and starting their family. I can't believe my baby is having a baby. I'm sorry there will be many posts in the future but tonight who will join me with a drink or your choice on me.

I'm thinking there's still a bottle of Schramsberg left. Can't think of a better reason for breaking it out. Congratulations!
Active Ink Slinger
Offensive posts seem the norm on Rumplations, so why not some self-promotion...

The latest 'Charlene' story is now live, (twelve others also on-line).

It is 'Flash', less than 1000 words, a really quick read.

Now that the crass commercialism is out of the way, I'd like a glass or two of Verdicchio.
Oh the hell with it, bring me the bottle and a glass.

I got mine last month! We must have joined at nearly the same time!

Spike Alyx's coffee with some of that Bulleit I've got behind the counter if you please, barkeep.

Looks like I joined the day after Verbal. I thought the 'Veteran' badge had to do with my military service.
Wondered how Lush knew about that.
But now that I know, we should have a celebratory drink! (Any excuse will do.)

... Speaking of Starbucks Coffee, anyone see where I left my cup??? By day's end, everyone will get that reference. A queen needs her caffeine. ...

This even got mentioned by Fox's media analyst, Howard Kurz, who prior to this time had refused to even mention GOT. Wow!

Carl, while you were gone, I broke into your footlocker and have been drinking Buffalo Trace with Blue Moon chasers. If I apologize and agree to pay you for what I took, would you spot me another round?

P. S. Carl, I didn't do that all by myself. I got help from two others here. I'm not going to mention any names, but one of 'em was covered with sand and the other was wearing a red hat with 'Make Europe Great Again'. On second thought, I think it was just the initials, 'M.E.G.A.'.
Active Ink Slinger
Looks like the main site's crashed again. Can't get my profile page to recycle and get weird messages when I hit a link to another page.

I'm going to need something to drink while I'm waiting. Still hoping I can take advantage of Carl's absence.
I'd like double shot of his Buffalo Trace with a Blue Moon back.

Looks like a couple others have discovered that "stories" might be down but "Rumps" is still open.

Hello Katherine, hello Tonya - glad you found your way in.

Thank you Rump, a couple of Shiners will do just fine.
