Author's Notes

"My attempt at some free verse. I was more fun than I thought. Yes, Poetry intimidates me, which is why I love reading it!"

She looks at me across the room,
our eyes meet, there is no retreat.
We make our way toward the back,
separately but together in spirit.

We escape with hands joined,
the air warms to our presence.
We notice no one in the back,
we giggle through a garden gate.

In the bushes between homes,
we pause and take a breath.
Then she reaches out slowly,
I thought she might have regrets.

Her touch is like gossamer,
it was barely a feather,
more a memory of one.
Her hand surprisingly warm.

Her body presses against mine,
two puzzle pieces finding each other.
Her arms close around me,
one hand on my hip, the other my back.

We slowly sink to the ground,
not caring if any could see.
The grass is so soft,
the trees cast shadows.

We lay facing each other,
I touch her face and feel her smile.
We kiss for the hundredth time,
and yet never like this.

She rolls me on my back,
her thigh presses between mine.
I feel my own need rise from within,
we moan in unison.

I could taste her scent,
sweet and spicy as always.
Her breasts against mine,
making me wish we were naked.

She leans up, her hair cascading,
creating in a private world.
It is too dim to see her,
but I know her look, her grin.

Although we had never been lovers,
it occurred to us at different times.
Finally that thought came to both,
at a time we were free to act.

Her hands are firmer now,
touching places that longed for her.
My belt is undone, jeans open,
her fingers take me away.

My own slipped under her top,
freeing breasts from lace confines.
My fingers rub their sharpness,
I am rewarded with a small cry.

My own breath catches,
her mouth closes on my breast.
I pull her tighter to me,
afraid she might stop.

Passion overwhelmes,
uninhibited I cry aloud.
Voices from nearby,
alarm at our sounds.

A light shines, revealing us,
disheveled and dirty.
Who found us gave words
to our thought: Get a room!
