I just submitted my first contest entry! Yay! I hope it makes it by the moderators. It should. It's a sacrilegious comedy with a very sweet ending. It's called 'Broken Vows Broken Lovers'. Look for it in your grocer's freezer section in a few days.

Frankincense, the real stuff, the green resin from Oman or Yemen. Place it on hot charcoal and enter the gates of heavenly scent.

Ok, well, my ego is now satisfied! I am listed as the highest-rated author in the Horror category in the last 30 days! I am basking in the sunshine of glory! And I will smack the first person who points out that The Lighter and the Scissors is the only horror story submitted in the past six weeks.

Thank you all for your sobering analyses. My life would be infinitely better if I would stay away from the news and politics. The situation in North Korea may be god awful and I may regard a certain person as the worst human in American history but my getting anxious or upset about the problems does nothing except bring me down. Likewise, I should write because I like to write and post without being concerned with number of reads and silly scores that ultimately mean zero. But I always want my ego petted. I gotta become a better Buddhist. Please, somebody tell me that's a great idea!

I wrote an erotic horror story and posted it here on Lush in the Horror category. It couldn't possibly go anywhere else. My ego tells me it is by far and away the best story I've ever written, by a long shot. It gets approved and Holy shit, Batman! ... it makes the Recommended Read List. Yay! I'm thrilled! Then ... hardly anybody reads it. In three days 300 people click on it while an old story I wrote that I think is almost a throwaway gets approved a day later and wracks up 2400 reads. 8 times as many in less time! Ugh!

So, tell me, do people not like the mix of erotica and horror? Is it like oil and water? I did put a lot of what I think is pretty good sex in the story, but do people only see that it is horror and go the other way?

Dumb horror turns me off (Friday the 13th, Halloween) but good horror (The Exorcist, The Cask of Amontillado) lights me up. I tried to make my story fit the mold of the second type. So, if my posting here has generated some interest on your part, please read 'The Lighter and the Scissors' and let me know what you think. (Wow, maybe I can pick up 20 more reads from this!). Be advised it is a horror story that is meant to horrify and there is a scene that is made to shock. But, in the end, everything turns out kinda A' Ok. Thanks!

I was just thinking about this subject the other day as I was writing my newest story. It's an erotic horror story. I have been reading Poe to give me a mood when writing and I noticed his name choices: Fortunato, Prospero, Usher, etc. It's funny, sometimes the names will slip by without my noticing the significance. I think I watched Apocalypse Now a dozen times before I noticed Robert Duvall's character was named Kilgore. I was trying to come up with a name for a nightclub on the beach for my story. First I settled in on the nondescript and boring 'The Wharf'. Then I tried 'The Open Clam' but it sounded too Family Guyish. Then it hit me: 'The Tentacles'. BINGO!!!!! Great name for a beach bar and it fits in with what's happening in the story. Yeah!

Of course, it's harder. I don't know how many times I've said that I'll keep going after orgasm but can't. I don't know how many times I've fantasized about, and said that I will lick my cum off her breasts but once the orgasm happens, the idea loses all its potency and sounds gross. Same with writing. When the testosterone has been expended, my writing lacks the edgy edge I like it to have. I have to wait a bit to get it back.

Many books have been written about Adolf Hitler coming to power in Germany. The main question they seek to answer is how a country that could produce Beethoven, Goethe, Martin Luther, and dozens of poets, chemists, physicists, and philosophers of world renown, could reach a point where they were willing to be led by a psychopathic racist wracked by delusion who led them down the path of self-destruction. Likewise, historians will seek out what it was in the American psyche that led them to follow a narcissist who is emotionally unstable, showing repeated signs of a severely damaged personality. We are fortunate in that, unlike Germany, we have a foundation of democracy that overcame the inevitable descent into dictatorship. But the danger still exists, for there are still millions believing that he is the political Messiah, come to rescue the US from all kinds of enemies, most of them imaginary. There will come a day when 90% of America, when looking back, will breathe a sigh of relief at the bullet we barely dodged.

Come and See ... A Russian film with subtitles. Technically not in the horror genre but to me far more horrifying than an intentional horror film. A war story that actually happened that shows the depravity that man is capable of. The cinematography is some of the best ever seen. A 5 star movie that may give many people nightmares. Still, a magnificent work. Available on youtube for free but the dvd is crisper.
The Exorcist ... I still watch this even though I've seen it probably 30 times. Well done horror.
An American Werewolf in London ... humor in a movie that scared the shit out of me the first time I saw it.
Hereditary ... what seems to be a study of psychosis. The ending is a bit of a letdown but there are dark, haunting scenes that can never be forgotten.
Get Out ... terrifying in its implications.

I'm trying to post the link here but for some reason it won't let me. But I wrote a story on this subject called The Massage Parlor which you can connect with from my profile page.

Ok, the story is coming along! I am very pleased with it. I've written a good start, a finish, and bits in between. I need to tie them all together smoothly which is a bit of a challenge in parts. I like the way it is coming around. It is definitely not gore for the sake of being gore. In fact, for the first thousand words there is no sign, except for little hints, that anything is up. The horror is delayed to increase the impact. I think it's great. I'm gonna finish it and post it. If it doesn't go through, so be it. It will mainly scare the shit out of men, so hopefully I get a female moderator who says: "Yeah, go ahead, he deserves it!"

I'm rather new here. I'm enjoying the site. I've now posted four stories and two poems, which have been fairly well received. I did notice the category of Erotic Horror. I had never delved into this genre but the title helped to germinate an idea in my brain of what I think would be a great story. Problem is, I think the shock and horror in the story would cause it to be rejected as it seems to maybe, perhaps, just slightly go against the guidelines. Damn! I'm gonna write it anyway as it is really coming along well but I just wish I could put it out to be read by those who like to be horrified. I'm trying to create an atmosphere that borrows from The Masque of the Red Death, The Cask of Amontillado, and No Country for Old Men. In other words it concerns a female psychopath who puts a man in bondage before pulling out a pair of very sharp scissors. Eek! Yes, but unlike the three stories, no violence is done, no one dies, and the man is released. But the threats that she makes will probably cause the censors to get uptight. Oh well, I kinda get it but in another way I don't ... so ... Damn!

I quit smoking 27 years ago after smoking for 24 years. At the end, I was inhaling 2 1/2 packs of Pall Mall non filter cigarettes every day. I was dying. But when I quit, my brain went haywire. I would wake up at 3 am, sit on the couch, and cry for no reason for an hour. This went on for months until I decided to see a psychiatrist. He explained that my brain chemistry was way out of whack after being cut off cold turkey from over 400 doses of nicotine every day. He put me on Paxil, 20 mg doses. I would wake up in the afternoon, feeling groggy beyond description after sleeping 14 hours. Cut back dosage to 5 mg. Ok, but still felt washed out most of the time. I then decided to try running mainly to help clean my lungs. I noticed immediately that running improved the depression, like day and night difference. Doc took me off the pills saying that he would prescribe running ahead of drugs but few would do it. I still run four days a week, at least one 10 miler a week. If I get lazy and cut out the running I end up in depression. Running cleans out my brain. It makes life worth living for. I swear by it.

And here I was thinking that men were bullshitting me when they tried to tell me that giving blowjobs was good for my health.

I don't believe one can 'boost' the immune system. It is what it is. We can fuck it up big time through fast food, junk food, sugar, tobacco, drugs, alcohol, etc. If one eats good food (and it doesn't take a PhD to know what good food is) then there is no need for supplements, potions, pills, or powders. Get exercise and sunshine, and a good blowjob now and then. I'm 63. I ran 10 miles today in the sun. I take no pills, except an occasional aspirin. My immune system is strong because I take care of me the way I should. Vitamin D comes from the sun, Vitamin C from oranges, and zinc comes from nuts. None of it should come from a bottle.

My first orgasm with a woman was in a massage parlor at the age of 19. She gave me a blowjob that was quite memorable. I have seen many masseuses and escorts since then. I take great pleasure in it. There is definitely a different feel to the sex. I feel submissive. There is also a wicked feel to it as it is considered by most of society to be immoral and decadent, not to mention illegal. Massage parlors are generally dark inside with a feeling of secrecy to them. I like it. Many consider it to be a sign of weakness and ineptness for a man to see a prostitute but I don't accept that as I have had sex with many women without paying for it. I am not desperate, I just enjoy paying for thrills without any of the baggage and commitment. It is rather exciting too to have sexual activities with someone you've just met two minutes ago when you may not even know her real name. I am careful, never getting an std except for a case of the crabs many years ago. I have a story I wrote about my first experience waiting in the queue for approval right now.
