Growing up in Indonesia, yes we did...a cook/housemanager and a driver/go-fer. We weren't fabulously wealthy, but we certainly didn't hurt. Over there, it's a little more common than it is here.
yeah in poorer countries i think there's less of a stigma? sometimes you WANT to give them whatever help you can so you can keep them in a safe job and not bought off to slavery.
