what sad news ..... man .... getting old sucks!!

After four decades with AC/DC, Malcolm Young, the group's guitarist and founding member, is not returning to the band.

"Malcolm is suffering from dementia and the family thanks you for respecting their privacy," his family said in a statement to PEOPLE.

In April, the group announced that Young was taking a break due to ill health.

"Malcolm would like to thank the group's diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support," AC/DC wrote on its website at the time.

In December, the group will release its 17th studio album, Rock or Bust, which is the first without Young in the group's 41 years together.

"Unfortunately, due to the nature of Malcolm's condition, he will not be returning to the band," according to a recent statement from the group.

"AC/DC will undertake a world tour in support of Rock or Bust in 2015. Stevie Young, nephew of founding members Angus and Malcolm Young, plays rhythm guitar on Rock or Bust and will accompany the band on tour."

So ... at this point .... Share your favourite AC/DC tune!!
love this song! (who doesn't???)

Rock 'n' Roll Train

It was the first song they played on their Black Ice tour, and my first ever concert. They brought the house down!

It's such a shame. I wish him well, together with his family and friends. As for the band, if anyone can keep going, it's them.
My latest story is a racy little piece about what happens when someone cute from work invites you over to watch Netflix and Chill.
Very sad news. I heard he was ill a few months ago. He will be sorely missed, I'm sure, by all AC/DC fans.

Good to see another member of the Young family steeping up.
“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”
So Sad. Angus, Bon and Brian get all the notoriety but Mal such an important part of the band. So glad they will continue in his honor and are keeping it in the family.

LET THERE BE ROCK

Oh Wow, what happened? I haven't heard anything, except this post just now!

When Brian first talked publicly about Malcolm being "ill", I was worried.

At least there's another generation of the Young family to take over the family business and I'm looking forward to hearing his work on the new album.

I have a weird relationship with AC/DC. I don't think that there is another band as hard as them on my "favorites" list. I tend more to prog rock and singer-songwriters (Leonard Cohen, Sarah McLachlan, etc.) where popular music is concerned. But AC/DC have somehow broken that mold and songs like "You Shook Me All Night Long" and "Thunderstruck" are part of my personal "soundtrack".

I echo this choice. So sad about Malcolm. Backbone of the band. My prayers go out to him and Angus, the rest of the Young clan, and the band.

AC/DC is one of the rare bands that I can honestly say "don't have any songs I don't like!" I mean what's not to like, straight ahead kick ass rock!
One of the best live bands to ever take the stage.
It has to be
You shook me all night long
I can't listen to that song without turning it up to LOUD !!
