All female "Lord of the Flies" Remake

So they've decided to make an all-female remake of the classic movie "Lord of the Flies." (Based on the novel by William Golding of course, and which in itself is a remake of the 1963 film).

I have a couple predictions...

Someone is going to be pissed off that their "childhood is being ruined" by having their vision of Piggy getting his head crushed by a rock replaced with a girl. We all remember the outrage that the Ghostbusters remake caused. I don't think think that this will cause the same outrage, since I don't think that 40 year old males that live with their mothers have action figure of Ralph, Jack or Piggy, but I can guarantee that someone will be "outraged." Even though nowadays, "outrage" consists of four people sending mean tweets.

I can also predict that some females will be irritated that two male writers will be writing how an island full of girls will act after being plane-wrecked.

Is this social justice run wild? Or just a new take on an old tale? Do you care if source material is changed for a modern audience?

Meh.

Not outraged, but I was generally satisfied with the 1963 movie. It wasn't begging for remake (not even in 1990).

Don't believe everything that you read.

I liked both the '63 film and the remake from the 90's. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. So much will depend on whether the writers choose to use a contemporary setting or set this in the time the original novel was set. There are such huge differences between the world of 1954 and the world of 2017, culturally speaking, that it would completely change the tone of the film. And, of course, we get the question of what ages will they choose to make the bulk of the characters, because when they're doing something as fundamental as gender swapping the entire cast, I am not convinced they won't decide to make the cast closer to all being teens for some sort of insane sex appeal angle.

And here's my prediction- if it retains the brutality of the source material, there will be a lot of outrage from people claiming that it is misogynist, because it is protraying women committing such acts of brutality.
