Hi all,

When I was just a lad, I saw a band play at an outdoor street fair. They were called Adonis, and they were really, really good. They were basically a Blue Öyster Cult cover band. If you play guitar, you know that's a tough row to hoe.
I was enjoying the show, and then they did a song I'll never forget. It was called "Dominance and Submission". The performance was outstanding. I already had the album, but I listened to it when I got home and really appreciated that song much more.

The lyrics, as always with BOC are mysterious and dark. The chord progression is incredible, and the lead guitar work is otherworldly.

Anyway, I thought some of you Lushies might enjoy it. It's an obscure little tune, and it would fit in around here...

Each night, the covers were unfolded
Each night, it's Susie's turn to ride

While Charles, the one they call her brother,

Covers on his eyes

Murmurs in the background

It will be time.

Let me know what you think. Also - do you have a weird little song to share?

That's kind of cool, actually. BOC doesn't seem to get covered much, at least that I have come across. Or maybe they were terrible and I forgot them. Bear McCreary, who is a metalhead himself outside of his film work, used an arrangement of "Godzilla" for one of the Legendary Godzilla films and that's the only one I can think of.

Yeah. They are a very odd band. They had at least three different guys sing lead, and they deliberately built their songs around odd and rather obfuscated lyrics. They were a difficult band for the masses to understand and love, but once you're inducted into the cult, you can't get enough. Two of the original guys are still touring at 80, and they still sound really good.

There's so much of that in rock and metal nowadays, eh. Still blows my mind that a Beatle is still active more than 60 years after the band debuted (I'm thinking of Paul. Maybe Ringo is, too?) And even a lot of the 70s and 80s musicians are working into their seventies (e.g. most of Judas Priest).
