Betty to her friends.

RIP, Lady.

Lauren DEVOTEDLY nursed her lover Humphrey Bogart through the last stages of his illness... (THey had been together for years, and faithful...) She ALSO as a friend, saved the life of David Niven after the accidental death of his first wife... A REAL lady... She could act too... And God Damn could she smoke a cigarette... Sleep Well, Betty Bacall.

(Maybe somebody Tech-Savvy could post an image?)
Miss Bacall was the epitome of what a woman should be - classy and self assured yet sexy as hell. She played both parts to perfection. R.I.P. m'lady.
She was a bit before my time but it is always sad to see the older actors pass away. Double sad that it was somewhat overshadowed by Robin Williams suicide.
Thank you Maz. xx SF
She sort of lives on through my lush avatar

(But seriously, I'm very glad we have her voice and image captured on film)

By all accounts, (and there are many...) despite her fame and talent, (she was 20 years younger than Bogart but both remained devoted to each other) she was DEVOID of all the sensational nonsense that characterised other actresses of her era... (She even turned down Sinatra who, after the death of Bogie, tried to 'console' her... She told him to fuck off...)

Classy Talented Woman.

Lauren Bacall was a great actress. In her day, fabulously sexy and beautiful. I really love those old moves. Its amazing how young she was when she first became a superstar. Her art will live forever through her films. What a splendid lady.
I loved this excerpt from CNN:

"She apparently had a stroke. A pretty massive stroke. That's what happened," said Jamie Bogart, who last saw Bacall over the holidays.

"She was, you can say she was a tough personality. She wanted the best and if you weren't doing the best she let you know about it. She was a great person. Catch her on a bad day it could be interesting. She was a good grandma. She was lucky to have a pretty unique life," he said.

Everyone has said what a spirit she was and the epitome of class.

Ms. Bacall will live on .....

She was 19 when she did To Have and Have Not. It was her very first acting role and she stole Bogie's heart (and the show) She will live on in our memories forever.
Ah, if I could go back in time ... She was the stuff that dreams are made of.
