This is not what you think... It's not the moon.
A super slow shutter speed and a firefly produced this effect.

NOTE: My scanner didn't pick up the glowy nuances as well as I hoped. The original picture looks so much better.

Again a slow shutter speed and my rugrat playing with a sparkler outside.

Some things are just better done the "old way"

Thanks!
Not the best photo, I know but my camera tech is somewhat limited. Still I tried my best.

Again, not the best but I did achieve what I wanted, which was to make the thistles seem taller, as if they were reaching to the sky.

Photos of an 1835 fusee watch repair I did in 2008. (Milled the chain table 1.5mm longer x 0.76mm deep (0.059" x .030") then drilled a hole 0.025mm diameter (0.001") , and turned a pin to fit it, to hold the link end of the fusee chain)
Photos taken with a Canon A580, set to maximum zoom. Auto exposure, flash overridden, lighting with a Tensor halogen 100w bulb at approx 1 ft from subject.

First photo was with the fusee mounted in my watchmaker's lathe, prior to cutting off the pin. Taken with all the same settings, but by holding the camera lens up against a slide projection lens, and shooting through it, for more magnification. (approx 20X).

Second photo is of the fusee and chain, after cutting off the pin, with a metric ruler, for scale.

Third photo is of the watch movement reasssembled and running. Those things holding it are my fingers.

Proof you dont need fancy equipment to take a nice photo. Just nice light and an eye for good composition.

This is a street in Chefchouen, north east Morocco. The entire old town is painted in various shades of blue.

Took this from the top of the south pylon of the Harbour Bridge. Yes, you can get up there, its not part of the bridge climb. Its much cheaper and just as spectacular.
Just used a standard 18-35mm lens, adjusted the colour and contrast, added a gradient layer mask to darken the clouds to how they looked on the day.

Here's a few pictures I took on an outing a few months ago.

I was heading towards the Museum Campus when I saw this installment. I don't know who the sculpture is by.

This one is taken outside of the Adler Planetarium, with the skyline overlooking the lake. One of my favorite places to go chill out in Chicago.

You rarely see the photographer, but here I am, holding up a replica of the Saturn V rocket. I saw the real thing when I was living in Houston a few years ago.
