I love books and movies, but I have always found movies usually pale when compared to the source material. Some of the movies I like even though they don't measure up, The LOTR movies come to mind. Others are so different the only thing they have in common with the source might be the title and maybe character names, the whole James Bond series is like that -- the movies have very little to do with the original Ian Fleming stories.
However, there is a very small segment of movies that actually improved on their books. I am curious what some of you think.
The one that comes to mind for me is 'Jaws'. The original book came across as more a soap opera, including an affair between . . . Oh, I don't want to spoil it for you is you haven't read it. But the movie is a suspenseful masterpiece that set the stage for the whole idea of a summer blockbuster.
A legend in my own mind!
