I read this today and was kind of shocked to hear they're in talks to make a third Sex and the City movie. I have to say, I loved the series and the characters - I watched the whole thing on DVD after it was already off the air and thought it was great. I enjoyed the Candace Bushnell book as well. I was not a fan of the movies at all. The first one was moderately watchable but I thought the second movie was an abomination.

I felt like the series writing was crisp and everything was well-paced but the movies just seemed cheesy and not funny or clever at all. In fact, by the second movie, I was actually coming to loathe the characters I used to really like. The characters were written at their best as thirty-somethings but as the actresses aged and the characters antics didn't, they all just became annoying to me. Do you think there's anything left to say in a third film?

"I think there's one last chapter to tell': Sarah Jessica Parker reveals she's hoping to make Sex And The City 3 SOON"

The first big-screen adaptation was loved by fans worldwide, while the second was panned by critics.
But despite Sex And The City 2's poor reception, Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed she hasn't ruled out reprising her role as Carrie Bradshaw for a third movie in the franchise.

However, the 48-year-old actress added in the interview with InStyle magazine that the follow-up film would have to happen soon - before she's too old to break out the Manolo Blahniks again.

She said: 'A part of me thinks there is one last chapter to tell. But timing is a peculiar thing. It isn't a decision that can wait forever.'

What will happen? It remains to be seen what would happen with Carrie and Big in the third film

Sarah Jessica added that she didn't want the sequel to be left so long that she and her castmates would be left wearing 'muumuus' - a type of shapeless dress which hangs loosely from the shoulders - instead of the eye-catching fashions their characters are famous for.

The star's comments come after her co-star Kristin Davis - who plays prim and proper Charlotte in the TV series and spin-off films - admitted in December they were in 'discussion' about potentially making a third movie. She said: 'I don't think a third film is a pipe dream, there is discussion. People talk about it amongst the people who are the players, but I don't know if it will come together. It would be very exciting if it did.'

However, Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda, has been less enthusiastic about the possibility of getting back together with the old gang, which also includes Kim Cattrall as man-obsessed Samantha, ten years after the HBO show ended. Quizzed about a third film, Cynthia previously replied: 'I think it's fine to let it go.'

And Sex And The City author Candace Bushnell previously revealed she thinks Sarah Jessica is too old to reprise her role as Carrie once again.

I have to agree with you on this one, DD. I loved the original series and I think it stayed sharp, funny, sexy and poignant pretty much all the way through, which is some feat when you think how long it ran for.

I did enjoy the first movie, but I'd rather have seen another few episodes than a movie.

I've never watched the second one, having been pretty much warned off it.

I don't really want to see another movie now... A one-off episode? Perhaps, but again maybe it's just better to let it rest in peace...
I love Sex and the City and would love to have another movie. Bring it on. Woo Hoo!
I liked the series but was not a huge fan. The first movie was decent but not great and I thought the second one was awful. I don't think they should make a third but if they feel there is an audience I am sure they will. I guess it cant be worse than The Carrie Diaries! HAHA
I've only seen a bit of the series (not really in the target audience, I guess) but, based on what I've heard of the reaction to the movies and The Carrie Diaries, it seems to me like it has run its course. Of course, there are other franchises that have hit that point and then been revived to varying degrees (Bond on several occasions esp. after Craig took over, Trek several times) so who knows. Maybe a good third movie could revive its fortunes.
Well, i never watched the shows, or movies, but my mom loves them. She'll love the news.
I agree with the OP. I watched the show after it aired and just loved it even though the clothes/makeup/social benchmarks were a bit dated. I loved the friendship and all of the dating scenarios. The movies though were just awful and disappointing. I also read the Candace books and liked her references though many of the places no longer exist that she writes about. It doesn't matter because she tells a good story.

This to me is like the Friend's reunion idea. When actor's careers stall they try to reach back to the characters that made them popular and try to resurrect their former glory but so often it is a huge miscalculation and only serves to make them look ridiculous.
Liked the show, disliked the movies.
The series was great. They should have just left it at that. These movies kind of mess it up for the series as a whole. Then they did that whole Carrie Diaries thing...they just need to let it go. I understand the franchise is a big money maker, and die hard fans are gonna over indulge, but I don't care for anything done outside of the series.
