It is! It’s difficult. There’s a reason why most erotica sounds the same: because there’s only so many ways you can describe sex, so it’s the story around the sex that’s going to make your novel stand out.
It’s interesting you mention that, because there are so many people in Hollywood who started out in porn—Michael Bay, Jackie Chan, Sylvester Stallone—and people don’t even know about it because their CVs have been effectively scrubbed.
