I read that many TV critics didn't like the opening episode of HBO's True Detective Season 2.

It sure didn't fit the cookie cutter mold of 99% of television dramas. Instead of starting with the plot as has ALWAYS been done in the past, they got creative and did the bulk of the character development right away. I actually found that quite intriguing. The show ended on the plot teaser.

After just one episode the characters are already deep and dark, certainly with some serious issues which should be a lot of fun. I found all of the four main the characters very interesting, but am most intrigued with Colin Farrell's brooding, corrupt, violent detective character.

I guess we'll see some serious plot development in episode 2.

"Hey. You see that too. Right. Now we got us something something."

Setting up season two in a nutshell.
This is one of the shows I keep intending to watch, but haven't had a chance to. Will have to binge watch S1, then start S2.

The good news is season 1 and 2 have nothing to do with one another. Be a rebel and watch the seasons out of order. You won't regret it.
After tonight's episode I'm not sure if I will last all 8 episodes. Episode 2 was a dud. This isn't looking good at all.
I am going to give them some time to pull it off. Gracepoint took a long time to get going, but it paid off so well. Same with The Bridge.
