I recently came across Madonna's version of "American Pie"

A more vapid, useless and empty version of Don McLean's classic is hard to imagine

Do you have any cover versions you would like to consign to the bottom of the sea?
I'll need to think about this one a bit, but that Madonna cover of "American Pie" is definitely up there for me.

To make up for the awful Madonna one, here is DM at Glastonbury

The first little bit wasn't bad - I was like 'this is decent' . . . but then she started with her hollow-echo-techno-pop shit that I've never been able to stand. She used to be a good singer with a lot of good songs but something broke along the way and she's been stuck in that beautiful stranger zone forever.

I love cover songs. I play music live and covers are always the most popular among general audiences.

Audience recognition plays a huge part in how much they respond to your music.

I've heard a lot of bad covers... but they are usually covers of bad songs.

Personally I love taking a cheesy pop song and making a cover of it. Everybody seems to love it.

Backstreet Boys and Avril Lavigne make great punk cover songs.

I feel like anytime anyone makes a cover, people shit on them. It's similar to the way that when you remake a movie, people hate on it even though it may very well be better than the original.

I actually can't think of any bad cove song.

As my previous posts show there are some bad covers. But there are some great covers that show the individuality of both artists, i.e. Along the Watchtower Dylan/Hendrix; Walk this Way Aerosmith/Run DMC; knocking on Heavens Door Dylan/Van Zevon/Clapton/Guns n Roses; etc.

So I agree but there are some songs/artists should think twice. . . but its alright
How about Fergies's rendition of the American National Anthem?

The "Star Spangled Banner" meets "Happy Birthday Mr President."
