Cristy, no one can delete a post from Lush. Not sure why and it's a pain, especially following a double-post, but that's just not something we mere mortals can do..don't know about admins. Of course, you can delete the contents of your own posts and either leave it blank or replace it with something heartfelt, like a ad for Rumplations. ;).

RUMPLATIONS: AwesomeHonky Tonk and Cyber Bar
Home of the Lush "IN" crowd: indecent, intoxicated, and insolvent
a place to gossip, share news, talk sports, pimp a story, piss & moan, or just grab a drink. Check it out.

Can't speak to here (don't remember if it was discussed at all during my time backstage) but on my other board, you lose the ability to delete your own posts after fifteen minutes. That was imposed after someone posted something stupidly provocative and trollish, got called on it, and deleted it to try to cover tracks. Of course, by that point, it had been quoted multiple times so the evidence was not really "lost" but we decided it was better to make sure that couldn't happen again. If someone really, really wants something deleted and has a good reason (like a double post), they can report their own post and ask a mod to do it.

But that's my other board. Not sure if that's the rationale here or not.
Moderators and administrators can delete forum posts - regular members can edit them.

The reason for this is that if you are the OP (original poster) of a thread, for example 'RUMPLATIONS: Honky Tonk and Cyber Bar' and for whatever reason you deleted your first post, the entire thread would disappear as a cascade effect. In this particular example, 27,718 replies over 8 years.

Often, threads take on a momentum of their own such as in the Think Tank and it would be a terrible shame to lose them because the OP deleted their first post, for whatever reason. It would turn the forum into Swiss cheese.

Hope that answers your question. smile
