Reader's, Do you like long stories or short?

Actually I would say medium. Too long can get boring, too short, whimsical . I read one today that was 20 pages long (another site and loooonnnngggg pages) and it was pretty good, up until about page 14 when I think the author turned it over to their 15 year old who started getting absurd with the storyline.

I personally like detailed stories that mimic reality more than anything else. I love stories where the characters seem real and your see yourself as them. The best stories are ones that grab your attention and hold it until the last sentence.

My sweetspot is 1000-1500....less is too short

2500+ ..... I don't have the patience to read long stories (I'd rather be chatting, looking at pics, sharing some hot fun with a gal).

I normally prefer shorter or mid length stories. But lately I’ve been reading some longer ones and realized I was missing out on some gems.

I’m in the mid-range category as well. I think a good, short story can be told within 3000 - 5000 words. Most of mine have been under 3000.

That said, I’m in the middle of publishing a BDSM serial that I’ve structured in roughly 2500 word chapters. Each one ending with some drama and suspense. Will be interested in my readers feedback once it is all wrapped up!!!!!

I like both lengths, however I feel it's harder for writers to write long stories especially if it's a series and have it do well. To those of you who do such just wanted to say admire your skill and talent.

Depends on the author. Extremely short can be great if done right, 1,200 words or less. Sometime details get in the way. With longer stories the desire has to build. Some are fantastic, while others are a boring string of mindless sex scenes. Either way the passion has to be both urgent and realistic.

As far as story length goes, I think it's kind of like sex. If it's really good, I want it to last forever. If it's just ok, a quickie is fine. smile

Depends on what you're looking for in a story. If sex is the point of your reading, you probably want it short and to the point. For me though, getting there is half the fun. I like to see the depth and breath of the character. Yes, sex is important, but getting there is important to me to. For example, the flirting and build-up to the slow stripping of each other - revealing more and more of his and her bodies is huge turn-on for me because that's the way I am so I can see myself in the situation more easily.
