I love Lush, and I read some amazing stories, easy on the eye. Easy to read. With amazing erotic style of writing. Then I read some other stories, which I would brand more as a porn flick scenarios.
That made me wonder - - -
What is an erotic story for you?
What is a porn story for you?
In my eyes there is a huge difference - - - Putting it simply - - - Erotic story excites a person with a style of writing itself. I see it in the same way as when it comes to romantic poetry. Romantic means not using the most common words to describe feelings of affection. One to be avoided at all costs is the word “love” - - When used, the poem is not romantic, is mushy and simplified.
Porno “script” is for me - - 50 shades of grey, and similar works of written works of so called art. Where not much is left to the imagination of the person. The style and the words used are as simplified as possible. It loses all appeal to read.
Of course, I understand, that it depends on the person, what for whom is an Erotic story, and personal taste about the kind of stories they like to read. . . .
In any case - - Both types demand time, attention and effort to write. That being said, to all the writers, my deepest respect, as we all put an effort in our stories. Some have parts of our souls, and hearts. No matter in what style they are written.
Any opinion will be greatly appreciated. Pictures are welcome too.

My sentiments are the same as yours. Anyone can piece together a few words to get the point across: Two or more people fuck and cum. Maybe more than once.
But it takes a true artist, in my opinion, to paint a journey with just words. When I read stories like this, I don't picture a porn scene complete with fake moans and tits and surgically enhanced cocks. I picture a true scene without even trying. The scene just floats in my imagination before I even realize it because the writing is that vivid and captivating.
I have no pictures to share because A) There are threads for that and B) The pictures are created by the words...or at least they should be.

To me, this is a judgement thing - "porn" is when someone is looking down on it; "Erotica" is when someone is looking up on it. A nudey girl on the cover of a lads mag is porn; the same picture hanging in an art gallery is erotic. Apparently, the first is exploitational, the second is aspirational.
The same story can be different things to different people. Trying to write a story which does both at the same time is interesting.
Those stories that utilize devices such as excessive ellipses, incorrect capitalization, and listing of characteristics are as tired as the roots on a low end porn actress.
She has big sexy boobies. He has a big willy. They make a sex. It is good. The End
Ok that's the porn in the story, the next step is to add the erotica.

Why not read some stories instead
NEW! Want a quick read for your coffee break? Why not try this... Flash Erotica: Scrubber I think erotica is where you want to keep reading after you've come.
My latest story is a racy little piece about what happens when someone cute from work invites you over to watch Netflix and Chill. Ann erotic story depicts true love and how that love came to be. Weighing in all the factors of what brought those two people together and how they see each other.
Porn: Fuck me, Fuck you, "LET'S FUCK"
Ones that are based on truth and about people I know
in porn, you'll find mostly sex .... no emotions or feelings ... just sex !!
but in erotic, it is different ... here they'd describe emotions perfectly ... there'd be seductiveness and passion !!

For me, erotica is when there's character development...where you find sensuality within the characters long before any actual sex takes place. It doesn't even have to be 'sweet' or 'tender', so to speak. To me erotica is when I'm caught up in the story and not just the sex.
And I think porn is when you're given a laundry list of details (44DDD boobs, 10 inch cock, abs, blonde hair, third nipple, etc.) and then sex happens. There's really no character development. Maybe some background info and/or hints at sexual tension between the characters that are going to have sex. But it's essentially like watching porn. You read about people and instantly know they're going to have sex...and then they have sex.

don't get me wrong i love porn
but i would say in the written word
porn is just crude....getting you to the end as fast as they can
erotic keeps the ride going and going and....going...
Eros is the Greek God of love, so if you take the word erotica and trace it's meaning back, etymologically speaking, one could argue that erotica should focus more on love, or making love, than just sex. If it was just sex for the sake of sex, it's a porn story. That's my take, anyway. Going by that, one could say that erotica should be more story based, as well, but even porn has stories, so really there probably isn't any difference between a porn story and an erotica story.
