A friend sent me an interesting story: "An educational leap". This story was originally written in Farsi and the English translation contains some minor changes to make it understandable for an English speaker. It's written as a sex story, but there is barely any sex in it.
The story is very interesting. It happens in Iran during the 1980s. It's about a criminal Islamic regime which brainwashes students in order to make child soldiers out of them. The brainwashing takes place by 1- taking away all the joy of their lives, including portraying real women as sad and sullen creatures, 2- making them believe that they are fighting in a holy war, promising them that if they die fighting in a holy war, they will receive every kind of pleasure and thing they wish to have in the afterlife, including Houris (mindless human looking sex machines who always stay young and virgin and unconditionally obey every command).
The protagonist who is a woman teacher strives to prove them wrong. When she sees that her students are not motivated for learning and improving in the real world as a result of being promised an imaginary world, she accidentally finds a strange way to motivate them. If you are interested, you can read the story to learn more.
The writer claims that it’s a true story. Some friends told me that this story describes the interior situation of Iran during the 1980s quite accurately. I can't be sure that the story is totally real but I think that doesn't matter. What's important is the moral behind this story.
I think the protagonist does the right thing. What she does is probably very weird from the point of view of someone who has lived in a democratic society. But we shouldn't judge her without understanding the situation which she and her society had.
I found this story very touching and I would like to share it with the others.
