ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response. The wiki describes it as using sounds and other stimuli (though we can only use sound for recordings) to create a "'brain massage,' 'head tingle,' 'brain tingle,' 'spine tingle,' and 'brain orgasm.'"

YouTube Example of ASMR

I'm wondering how people would like it if someone recorded an erotic story using this ASMR technique, by slowly whispering into the microphone. And along with the sound of their voice, the reader should glitter the audio with sounds of light gum chewing, lip smacking, a hand scratching a table cloth, etc. I think there's a lot of possibilities out there.

What do you guys think of this idea? Has it been done before? There's a ton of YouTube videos of people roleplaying or whispering on all sorts of themes, but they only improvise. From my searching, I can't find any fictional stories read in this manner. A good author and reader might be able to shape this into a relaxing and seductive erotic listening. Also, stories with themes of being in public or on the verge of being caught by someone in the house would make the whispering more appropriate.

If anyone would like me to write a story for them to record like this, I'll probably take it on, but only if you've already posted an audio recording before. Other than that, I hope someone looking to record a story will take this idea and run with it.

The only time I've ever heard ASMR mentioned is by people saying they use it to wind them down to fall asleep.

That's not exactly the reaction you're hoping to get when writing erotica. LOL

Good Will ---|--- Three Alarm <= Both almost famous, give them a read and get them one step closer!

^ I was going to say the same thing. It would probably be counter-productive to relax the listener instead of causing their heart to race and help their mind become wrapped in the story (I mean, it’s erotica after all). Still, I love to be proved wrong and the concept in general sounds intriguing.

Perhaps this technique could be used at the start of a story to help the listener unwind before transitioning to a more traditional narration.

I can’t think of a good tagline so this will have to do. Suggest a better one for me?
