Hi Guys

Got a copyright question for you that I'm sure you can answer. Am I allowed to quote two lines of song lyrics in a poem? After months and months of writers' block, I've just done a rough draft of a poem that I absolutely love. But the first two lines are a direct quote from a song - can I use it?

Cheers my dears

Daisy
it would be proper to enclose those two lines in uotation marks and give the author and song credit at the end of your poem.

not a legal opinion, just common sense.

Thanks Groucho

Much appreciated!
It would be better to use your own words, otherwise it's plagiarism

You could workshop the poem here if you like, and we could all come up with some ideas that might help?
I'am doing an Open University course and if we quote from an extract or novel. we can't quote more than 15 words anymore they say is classed as plagerisim. don't quote it as being totally correct it is best to find out for sure, but i think its a good starting point to build up different ideas.

Hey honey, please tell me that 15-word rule is just for when you are writing creative work.
