I came to terms with being open about my writing, publishing it and being open about it to others, because I have not been all of my life, which was more of a liability. It was a process I went through while writing and actually learned to be more open from the main character, interestingly enough. I had only written professionally or conservatively before, but having been through a lot of relationships and experiences and having always been sexual, I know that is a part of most of us. If anything I was motivated by the bias toward or against eroticism in society and/or literature when that is the very issue contributing to so much sexual dysfunction in our culture or across cultures.
My books, a 3 book mini-series, addresses those issues following a young girl and her friends through her issues, feelings and having to deal with these issues in their lives and the affects on them. I included the very detailed explicit content and intense erotic romance so readers or young readers would understand exactly what the characters experience and feel and what all they deal with (and that they may possibly relate to). Also, academic studies show that books and this type of writing can be helpful to those who are inexperienced or less experienced with sex or relationships or their feelings in a very safe way. So, my intent is/was to produce meaningful, substantive and realistic, yet entertaining and enjoyable contemporary literature. I'm open about it to friends and family and they are all invited to read them or talk about it with me and share their views or opinions. It's about open and honest communication, love, and acceptance with that thematically being the main solution for handling or dealing with this subject and cultural or social issues involving it.
